Has anyone  got a recommendation for travel insurance? We’re going to Australia for around 3 months & are trying to work out the best insurance.

We’re 60+ and one of us has a health condition (CLL) but it doesn’t need treatment & we’re both in good health apart from that.

The quotes I’ve received so far are around £1000  which is more than the flight!!!

Each policy seems to offer something different so any recommendations would be helpful thanks.

Try Saga and Age Concern for recommendations.

Google - plenty of companies out there  - some banks I believe offer travel insurance as do credit cards.

If you have health insurance they might be able to help or try that  avenue - actually thinking about it as I am of a similar age, with various health conditions when I went to USA pre Covid for a month - was around £400/500 but that was yearly - so guess if there are two of you, maybe it is correct. I use to when I travelled to USA cover my self to the hilt as well as repatriation to UK if I got too ill.

    • I used the Forum to find a reliable plumber who could respond to an emergency. Niko responded quickly and was able to come over and fix the problem efficiently and effectively. He was professional, courteous and thoughtful. He was also keen that I contacted him after a few days to check with him that I was still happy with the work he had done.  I have no hesitation in recommending Niko and would certainly call on him again.  Thanks Niko
    • Thanks George.  The sub post office sold penny sweets - a blast from the past.  They were happy to let the post office go as they told me there had been some serious robberies - with menace.  But it didn't last much longer Roy operated from very old coach house building from the adjacent hotel, he sold these and built a brand new facility, he had to use yellow brick, but then some personal stuff meant that he had to let it go, and there was no reason to keep a garage there so were turned into apartments.  There were some very shacky and old buildings on the other side (to the left as you look from the street) and a mobile mechanic used to work from there, but they went I think after Covid. The coal sheds from the branch line would have been behind as well. I phoned Robert Elms up on his programme when he was asking about a London pub which had doubled up as an undertakers.  It may have been the Moore Park Hotel but I was more interested in Elm's views as he doesn't recognise that SE London exists, Well, begrudgingly Peckham, as one of his kids lives there. We did a local pub crawl many years ago starting with the hotel, which had been turned into flats by then, but we had some home made stout and made our own pub sign for a bit of fun. Of course this side of the road is Lewisham, so we shouldn't be discussing it here, but I wont tell anyone.
    • Can't remember if the off license was independent or a chain, don't think it was Unwins.
    • The maximum weight for Royal Mail parcels is apparently 20kg. Over that it must go via Parcel Force.
