Yes i always assumed it was a freehold. I wouldnt blame him if he just wants to retire now being at the mercy of that crowd.

A friend who lives in the next road says the word on the street is that a young Irish family is  taking over the Blythe.

But also, some local (to the pub!) people were looking into the possibility of it becoming a community owned pub, which would have been nice.

Who knows. Wait and see, eh. Fingers crossed and hope it doesn't change too much 😭 There aren't many pubs like the Blythe left 😭

Can’t see stonegate accepting an offer from community group.  Would love to be wrong

if a young Irish family are going to take it over then good luck to them.  You need to be a canny operator (and Con was definitely that) to handle the hoops stonegate throw at you

I used to go to the Sylvan Post pub in Forest Hill before Covid but haven’t been since. I wonder how much it’s changed, if at all.

@Azalea Sylvan post is the same,,and pretty busy.

Same interior still serves food nothing has changed.

The Sylvan Post is quite grown up friendly until about 4pm. After that it’s strictly kids only.

I avoid daytime at weekends lots of families and children but kids in the evenings? We often go with our neighbours and we are all 50+..

The link I have already posted explains everything Malumbu. Click it and read it again if you are still confused.

    • Beansprout, I think that's quite unfair. I was  only trying to help. How was I to know you had your phone checked out last week? I thought I was making a useful suggestion. It's good that you have now eliminated that possibility. What I couldn't understand is, if it is an iD (and hence 3) issue, and the connection all over London is as bad as you are experiencing, then everybody using iD or 3 would  be having exactly  the same problems. I hadn't seen any publicity, so I just googled. It seems that reception in central London and other densely populated areas is a known problem with 3/iD, so I must just be lucky. Though none of the posts I could find were recent.  I hope you have better luck with a different provider.

    • I grew up on the neighbouring Denmark Hill estate and had friends on the Champion Hill estate (now known I think as the Cleve Hall estate) and both have always been a nice  place to live with friendly neighbours and have great transport links etc.  Lots of flats/houses have obviously been bought over the years and Southwark Council have also auctioned off a lot of their properties in the area that become vacant over the years, rather than putting them back into the system. Just to say that council tenants are not having any repairs/maintenance on blocks that they live in done for free as they are paying rent!
