I walked through the cemetery this morning to catch the 63 from its’ start at Therapia Road: no buses. I had to walk to Barry Road and wait for a diverted 363.

Peckham Rye is completely closed by the Harris school. A tree was being taken down but the TfL website says it’s Thames Water. It doesn’t say how long the closure is going on. The 363 is diverted via Lordship Lane and Barry Road both ways. The 63 starts from Nigel Road.

There was a burst water pipe Saturday on Peckham Rye West, with water pouring down the road, really dangerous as it became an ice rink with the cold weather. Thames water have closed the road,  erected barriers but no work seems to be taking place.  I thought it would have been given priority as a main route but obviously not!

Thames water seem to be slow at responding to a number of these types of leaks locally.

I have noted on another thread that Thames Water contractors are unlikely to want to incur significant costs until it is clear that Thames is not going into administration such that they may not be able to pay for the work. With the very poor quality of repairs locally anyway you may expect more disruption before things get better. And restrictions on road usage locally mean that what would have been alternative routes in the past are sealed off and unusable. Good, isn't it?

yep, but that's not the discussion being had here, what is being discussed is the burst that has resulted in no bus service between Peckham Rye and the other end of Underhill Road, leaving elderly folk stranded and unable to get to Peckham or further. All a huge inconvenience.

I opened the thread just to let people know that the road was closed and the buses off. It’s only because I was heading to OKR that I went for the 63 . It’s pleasant stroll through Camberwell Old Cemetery since the gate opened on Underhill. It must be a pain for regular users of the 63. I take it the road is still closed?

I assume it is starting and ending early ie they have not cancelled the whole service.  Thanks for starting the thread.  Generally always worth checking as have been caught out a  few times.  For fans of buses I started a thread once, living the new electric buses but not a lot of interest.

Yes the road is still closed. I read the notice on the barrier this evening,  said work should be completed by 7th Feb. Hopefully that will be the case
