Seriously though, I hope nobody was harmed in the making of that, because they must have veered right across the road before crashing, and only just avoided the tree.

They must have been going pretty fast.

Asleep at the wheel? Medical issue? Drunk? Young or stupid people messing about with a stolen car? (Apologies to young people, I know most of you aren't reckless).

It was lucky they didn't hit something going in the opposite direction ( at least, I assume/hope they didn't) before they went over the wall.

But I'm confused, because the broken part of the wall is in front of the car. Did they reverse in an attempt to get the car off the wall, and then made things worse? 😮

I have just noticed that this is being discussed on another thread ( though not the possible art installation aspect 🤣)

But also, I took it as an actual incident, but apparently it's a joke. Duh.

And not even 1 April.

Anyway, I'm glad nobody was hurt. Clearly I'm very gullible, and very bad at identifying fake photos.

Sue - I promise you that was no fake photo, not sure that I'm even capable to that.  I took the picture about 12:15 today.

Oh ok, I'm even more confused now then.

Have you seen the discussion on the dangerous driving thread?

20 mph zone. 2 tonne car. Absolutely standard road violence - add it to the weekly railings being mangled on the South Circular. The only reason it is remarkable is because they managed to plant it on top of the wall.

Oddly, there are some that remain preoccupied by kids on bikes on pavements and some cyclist that didn't stop at a red light as being what's really dangerous around here. I think they are probably motivated by factors other than road safety when banging that drum.

FWIW, concern at the growing number of bikes and powerful e-bikes, consistently exceeding 20mph, while riding on pavements as well as jumping red lights- even at busy junctions, is also very much about safety and concerns about this and about dangerous driving in cars and larger vehicles should not be mutually exclusive. If you view the roads as already dangerous, do you also want to see pavements and crossings at red lights made even more dangerous by turning a blind eye to reckless cycling behaviour?

Should this thread be in the traffic section?

It's real. I nearly crashed my car while rubbernecking at it yesterday.

Let's just hope the driver didn't suffer any sort of medical emergency that might have caused them to crash their car hey.....

Many who are anti-car suggest there is a culture war being waged and when I read posts that include terms like "standard road violence" really makes me wonder if the problem might be from the very people who try to claim one is being waged against them.

Firstly i do hope that the driver is not seriously injured.

However this is the second time that a car has mounted the pavement on this corner of the road outside the BT building on Lordship Lane. There are not enough bollards erected on this bend to protect the public and some haven't been replaced since the last crash a few weeks ago. I fear that it could be a matter of time before a member of the public is fatally injured, as they head towards Dulwich Park or walk along that bend.

Can anyone advise as to who is responsible for road safety re bollards etc along this part ?

Sue, the hole in the wall in front of this car is where the other Mercedes crashed through the wall before Christmas.

You can some of the black plastic debris from the other car but you can more clearly see the damage on top of the bricks where the bottom of the other car was (after the hole towards the bottom of the image).

The second photo on here shows where the black car punched through the wall further back, behind the car.

If you’re concerned about road danger - especially at this location on Lordship Lane where drivers speeding is a problem - I’d recommend emailing [email protected] and cc your local councillors https://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgFindMember.aspx?

Worth copying the Mayor and Met police too as I expect a shared responsibility.  Could be worth requesting a speed smear if there is evidence of regular speeding.

    • Aria has done a great job of fixing all the leaks from our concealed cistern toilet. He successfully replaced the old cistern, flush pipe and waste pipe and installed an isolator valve without damaging any of the surrounding tiles or decor. His communication has been excellent and he has persevered in spite of the challenges involved in this job. We are happy with the result and would be happy to call on him again. Thank you.
    • Hello I’m buying a double bed (dismantled already) and a mattress from another Forum member but I don’t have a vehicle. Can anyone help me? Pick up is in Sydenham and then back to mine in Nunhead. thanks!
    • Hi there - my boxes were delivered this morning and I’ll unpack over the next couple of days, so will have a pile of boxes and bubble wrap for you by the weekend if that’s any help? I’m on Limes Walk, SE15, near the Rye.
    • OK. I don't usually eat beetroot (except raw and grated in a salad) or brown sauce.  I hate cooked beetroot, if that is what the packs are. I suppose it depends what sort of food you are looking for.  Before you accuse me of being snobby, Lidl is very good value for many food items which I would buy, but there isn't one in East Dulwich,  and those in Peckham and Camberwell Green are too far for me to walk. I don't understand what you mean when you say "You said that you want it closed down so why would you go in there in the first place?" I was pleased that a pound shop was opening locally, and  If memory serves, I said that on here at the time. I have been in there several times in the hope of finding great things to buy - great things like I have found in other pound shops in the past. I haven't found anything much I want to buy in there, let alone any bargains, even at Christmas. I did once buy some toothpaste, and when I got home I realised that it was cheap because it was a smaller size tube than I usually buy. My post on this specific thread regarding it closing down was in the context of the previous posts which said  things like no staff being available to serve customers.  Of course there are very expensive shops and restaurants round here. I don't usually  go there either, and I don't want them closed down either. I don't know quite what point you are trying to make?
