Sue
Seriously though, I hope nobody was harmed in the making of that, because they must have veered right across the road before crashing, and only just avoided the tree. They must have been going pretty fast. Asleep at the wheel? Medical issue? Drunk? Young or stupid people messing about with a stolen car? (Apologies to young people, I know most of you aren't reckless). It was lucky they didn't hit something going in the opposite direction ( at least, I assume/hope they didn't) before they went over the wall. But I'm confused, because the broken part of the wall is in front of the car. Did they reverse in an attempt to get the car off the wall, and then made things worse? 😮 Edited February 2 by Sue 1 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/357195-car-crash-or-art-installation/#findComment-1696171 Share on other sites

Sue
I have just noticed that this is being discussed on another thread ( though not the possible art installation aspect 🤣) But also, I took it as an actual incident, but apparently it's a joke. Duh. And not even 1 April. Anyway, I'm glad nobody was hurt. Clearly I'm very gullible, and very bad at identifying fake photos. CPR Dave
There was another Mercedes crashed in almost exactly the same spot on Sunday morning a few weeks before Xmas. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/357195-car-crash-or-art-installation/#findComment-1696204 Share on other sites

Dogkennelhillbilly
20 mph zone. 2 tonne car. Absolutely standard road violence - add it to the weekly railings being mangled on the South Circular. The only reason it is remarkable is because they managed to plant it on top of the wall. Oddly, there are some that remain preoccupied by kids on bikes on pavements and some cyclist that didn't stop at a red light as being what's really dangerous around here. I think they are probably motivated by factors other than road safety when banging that drum. first mate
FWIW, concern at the growing number of bikes and powerful e-bikes, consistently exceeding 20mph, while riding on pavements as well as jumping red lights- even at busy junctions, is also very much about safety and concerns about this and about dangerous driving in cars and larger vehicles should not be mutually exclusive. If you view the roads as already dangerous, do you also want to see pavements and crossings at red lights made even more dangerous by turning a blind eye to reckless cycling behaviour? Should this thread be in the traffic section? Expand Let's just hope the driver didn't suffer any sort of medical emergency that might have caused them to crash their car hey..... Many who are anti-car suggest there is a culture war being waged and when I read posts that include terms like "standard road violence" really makes me wonder if the problem might be from the very people who try to claim one is being waged against them. MsDulwich
Firstly i do hope that the driver is not seriously injured. However this is the second time that a car has mounted the pavement on this corner of the road outside the BT building on Lordship Lane. There are not enough bollards erected on this bend to protect the public and some haven't been replaced since the last crash a few weeks ago. I fear that it could be a matter of time before a member of the public is fatally injured, as they head towards Dulwich Park or walk along that bend. Can anyone advise as to who is responsible for road safety re bollards etc along this part ? CPR Dave
Sue, the hole in the wall in front of this car is where the other Mercedes crashed through the wall before Christmas. You can some of the black plastic debris from the other car but you can more clearly see the damage on top of the bricks where the bottom of the other car was (after the hole towards the bottom of the image). The second photo on here shows where the black car punched through the wall further back, behind the car. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/357195-car-crash-or-art-installation/#findComment-1696364 Share on other sites
