Administrator Joe Posted January 28 Administrator Share Posted January 28 Admin note - This is the yearly discussion thread for new shops coming to East Dulwich and nearby. You can find the links to the previous years below: 2024 edition 2023 and earlier edition To start us off, there is a new Deli called Chili & Garlic opening up next to Gails on Zenoria St. Website: https://www.chilliandgarlic.co.uk/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chilliandgarlicdeli? There is a menu on the website and it appears to sell wraps, bowls and fruit juices. The opening is not yet announced, but probably soon. 3 1 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/356967-new-shops-in-east-dulwich-and-nearby-2025-edition/ Share on other sites

Toldyouso
There seem to be a couple of vacant units on Grove Vale and Grove Vale Ceramics has just closed too - any news on what is coming? 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/356967-new-shops-in-east-dulwich-and-nearby-2025-edition/#findComment-1695551 Share on other sites
jazzer
Perhaps the question to ask is why businesses are closing there, rather than "what's next?" Sue
5 hours ago, jazzer said: Perhaps the question to ask is why businesses are closing there, rather than "what's next?" I'm sorry to hear that it has closed, but Grove Vale wouldn't immediately spring to mind as the ideal location for a shop (?gallery?) solely selling ceramics. Plus you had to go in and ask to find out the price of anything, which was a bit off-putting (well, it put me off asking again after my first sharp intake of breath 🤣 ) Perhaps they overestimated the effect of gentrification? 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/356967-new-shops-in-east-dulwich-and-nearby-2025-edition/#findComment-1695596 Share on other sites

I liked the shop but felt put off having to ask the price of things..I think it would do better in Dulwich Village. It was'nt in a location I would immediately think of if wanting to spend £100 upwards on a decorative item for a shelf. 2 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/356967-new-shops-in-east-dulwich-and-nearby-2025-edition/#findComment-1695600 Share on other sites

beansprout Posted yesterday at 13:59 Share Posted yesterday at 13:59 Love Dulwich must be included. Another lovely meal, freshly cooked. Use to always support other places on the lane but quite a few of them din’t reach even the basic mark of freshly cooked food. Guess will see the likes of Megans closing - staff retention is zero & cooks change regularly. Hate chains, but that is personal. Hopefully Jonnies will remain - since people who use them, have been using them for years and generations. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/356967-new-shops-in-east-dulwich-and-nearby-2025-edition/#findComment-1697202 Share on other sites
NewWave
@beansprout I'd be very happy to see the back of 'Megans on the lordship' or whatever its called The food is grim (nice on the menu the reality is awful) dreadful muzak and all round pretty dreadful. I'd much rather see punters spending their money in places like Love Dulwich,Kanella,Johnnies and so on. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/356967-new-shops-in-east-dulwich-and-nearby-2025-edition/#findComment-1697247 Share on other sites
Katherty
Holland & Barrett seem to be opening news shops in several places. They are opening a big shop on Clapham High Street, where the post office recently closed. Also on Oxford Street. So a big expansion programme perhaps. If memory serves it's at the Tottenham Court Road end. Where is the new one going to be?
