Froglander Posted Friday at 19:08 Share Posted Friday at 19:08 Does anyone have any recommendations? I noticed there is a Travelodge in Peckham High Street. Anyone tried it? Thank you. alex_b Posted Friday at 20:07 Share Posted Friday at 20:07 I know someone who regularly stays at The Victoria on Bellenden Road and is very positive about it. I haven’t stayed there myself though. Dogkennelhillbilly Posted yesterday at 09:52 Share Posted yesterday at 09:52 The Crown and Greyhound in Dulwich Village has rooms which are nice, but can be pricey. Also the food is terrible, if someone was intending to eat there ....... Penguin68 Posted yesterday at 12:09 Share Posted yesterday at 12:09 My recent experience of The Dog suggests that their kitchen has been significantly improved. Most menu items seemed fine. Not fine dining, just fine relatively upmarket pub food. Dogkennelhillbilly Posted yesterday at 13:27 Share Posted yesterday at 13:27 The food at the Crown and Greyhound is good but the prices are eye-watering. Rocca next door is just as good and more reasonably priced. But none of that is about hotel rooms, I digress... Yes, it does seem a step change and followed their recent significant uplift. It did used to be dire immediately before. You have to think back to the 1990s when there were some good dishes, but even then somewhat hit and miss. I had what was at the time the worst meal of my life there. Superseded (sp?) by another one locally the Christmas just gone, but that's another sad and much worse saga. the_hermit Posted yesterday at 16:00 Share Posted yesterday at 16:00 You used to be able to stay at the Salvation Army Training College by Denmark Hill for very little (like a hall of residence; not a homeless hostel!). You have to sign something to say you will not bring in or consume alcohol. Iirc they served breakfast too. And yes The Dog is much better than it used to be.
