Hi all,

I remember seeing something here ages ago about meet ups for only children but can't find it now. My little boy is 3 1/4 and is an only child and everyone we know seems to have siblings so I would love to find him some new playmates who are also only children. I'm also starting to really struggle with imaginative play and role play type games for times when its just the two of us during the day and wonder if anyone has any suggestions for how to make all those games less tedious for the adult and more satisfactory for the child.

Would love to hear from anyone else in a similar situation!

Brilliant, thanks. Shall we maybe say the afternoon of Friday 13th Sept from 3.00, for anyone who would like to come?

(I would say the 6th but that will be William's first morning back at nursery in a new classroom with new people so I think he probably wouldn't be up for more socialising afterwards!)

Hi all,

Just seen this thread (thx, mima08!). Yes, playdates/playgroups for singleton children are brilliant. I had organised several of these in the past and met some lovely new friends. What I also discovered was that families of all ages have only children for a variety of different reasons, and that the negative stereotypes about singletons and their parents are most definitely not true!

Unfortunately I can't make the 13th, as I'm working. Perhaps sometime this autumn when the rain sets in (as it inevitably does!), we could have a Saturday meet-up indoors somewhere? Swimming, Gambados, pottery caf?, pub...? My little girl is 3.5 yrs now, but she plays really well with children of all ages. We're happy to meet up with anyone. If the weather is decent, the Saturday morning market at Telegraph Hill (every 3rd Sat of the month) is also a great place to meet. http://weareccfm.com/Lewisham.html

Have fun, and hope to catch up soon :)

Hello. I posted this yesterday about starting a playgroup/meet on a regular basis:http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?25,1173995,1173995#msg-1173995

My son Flynn is an only and he's ready to make regular friends. I'd be happy to come down on the 13th.

Regards

Lee

Hi everyone, three of us plus kids made it in the end and they all seemed to have a great time playing together despite the terrible weather! We now have a Facebook group to make it easier to arrange more meet ups - please PM me or Mima08 if you would like to join it. We will probably do more Friday afternoons over the next few months.

    • Well yes.  But only up to a point eu countries have had to spend a LOT of money to accommodate English madness  - and has had to deal with years of incoherent positioning.  It has destabilised the EU as a group - or has at the very least distracted it and consumed bandwidth  which is why Putin was so pro-Brexit. Which enabled other subsequent events - it’s hard to imagine the world as it is now without Brexit.  A stronger EU.  Uk not a mess and in its own after multiple elections and way more prime ministers than 9 years could possibly allow   a stronger united front
