Just up from the co-op, going towards Goose Green, a wagtail bird was flitting about on the pavement. It wasn’t worried about people walking along and then another one joined it and both flew over to a cake shop pecking at crumbs.

Never seen one before and was nice to observe.

My partner told me the other day that he had seen some in Southwark Park, and he had never seen any there before.

I've only ever seen them near water, eg by the stream on the walk between Merton and Carshalton.

Hoping I might get some in the garden now, it would make a nice change from sparrows, great tits and the robin, lovely as they are 😀

    • Their website says: “This store is temporarily closing for refurbishment on the 24th December after closing time. We expect to reopen, bigger and better, in the middle of February 2025.”

    • Thanks, I'll call them.  I don't think the letters would be sent out from the shop, so it's more likely that the info line would know.
