Cancerian
Went to get a few bits in the dog kennel hill Sainsburys this morning and something that has been £1.15 for ages has suddenly gone up to £1.45! Tin of Sainsburys anchovy fillets. Looks like price rises are on the way! Angelina Posted Tuesday at 12:01 Share Posted Tuesday at 12:01 The own brand chocolate was 45p for a long time and then has gone up to £1.00 Still not breaking the bank but was quite happy with something at a decent price for once. More than 100% increase Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/355854-price-rises-in-sainsbury%E2%80%99s/#findComment-1692964 Share on other sites
Insuflo Posted Tuesday at 15:23 Share Posted Tuesday at 15:23 The price of some things seems to be volatile. I think there must be a spike in international chocolate markets or some such. Sainsbury’s recently increased the price of both Club and Penguin biscuits from £1.60 to £2.00 a pack in one hit, so a 25% rise. malumbu Posted Wednesday at 10:18 Share Posted Wednesday at 10:18 Well we were either taxed more or the money had to come from somewhere else ... Either way we would have less money to spend but the former was preferable. Expect the market will adjust, hopefully sooner rather than later. Reducing the amount of unprocessed food would be a great start both for our pocket and our wellbeing Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/355854-price-rises-in-sainsbury%E2%80%99s/#findComment-1693067 Share on other sites

malumbu Posted Wednesday at 11:02 Share Posted Wednesday at 11:02 Just remembered that we paid a lot more for our CDs compared to Europe. Government investigated, the industry said we had higher quality product. Then that argument collapsed and we got parity. Now we are outside the trading bloc we don't have these competitive pressures. I think we were told that Brexit would make things cheaper. Do you have an answer Farage, Gove and Johnson? The first will blame the others, the others have their well paid careers, so don't care Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/355854-price-rises-in-sainsbury%E2%80%99s/#findComment-1693074 Share on other sites

Reducing the amount of unprocessed food would be a great start both for our pocket and our wellbeing The better choice would have been to raise employee NI back to the pre cut level thereby taxing those who work and can afford it without pushing up prices for everyone. But stupidly "there will be no tax increase on working people" which is why it's disastrous in my mind. malumbu Posted Wednesday at 11:38 Share Posted Wednesday at 11:38 Catch 22, if they said sorry you will need to pay more tax as the country is broke and we need to rebuild the economy, they may not have got in. And if they had raised taxes for those working they would have been roasted for not following their pledges. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/355854-price-rises-in-sainsbury%E2%80%99s/#findComment-1693079 Share on other sites
