jazzer
Hello Everyone, Are you are a patient at FHRGP? I have copied the following information from their website about the next Patient Participation Group meeting to be held at 6.30pm, on Thursday 23rd January 2025. This is an opportunity to come along, listen to what they have to say as per the Agenda, and perhaps ask some pertinent and searching questions about any concerns you may have regarding the agenda items, or any other matters regarding the Practice and the impact and consequences it has on us, the patients. Patient Participation Group (PPG) Next Meeting: 6:30pm Thursday 23rd January 2025 Dr Ganesh will continue to share with us the realities of general practice. The agenda will include: The FHRGP Website Allocation of appointments Accessing non-urgent care A named GP Staff name badges Face to face appointments Older patients and apps The long term plan A patients’ questionnaire All patients are warmly invited to share in this opportunity Time will be given for patients’ issues including topics for PPG discussion in 2025 Please, put the date and time in your diary and come along. Change only happens, when the people (us, the patients) make our voices heard about any concerns we may have, to those who can affect change, and improve how things are run to benefit the patients. malumbu
Do you Chair this group. I provided some direct feedback, including supporting much of the on line stuff, particularly where they made this more user friendly Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/355239-forest-hill-road-group-practice-patient-participation-group-ppg-next-meeting%C2%A0630pm-thursday-23rd-january-2025%C2%A0/#findComment-1690496 Share on other sites

malumbu
Are you on the PPG? They appear to want others to engage but they also acknowledge that such a group will never be fully representative of users There is lots on line, but it was interesting to find the last inspection report of the CQC who quote a survey done my the PPG. https://www.cqc.org.uk/location/1-544424476/inspection-summary Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/355239-forest-hill-road-group-practice-patient-participation-group-ppg-next-meeting%C2%A0630pm-thursday-23rd-january-2025%C2%A0/#findComment-1690514 Share on other sites
jazzer
I'm a patient. Over the past 9 years I have had to have more "engagement" with the Practice and believe things have significantly deteriorated. Have you attempted to get an appointment with them? They send patients to the Tessa Jowell Centre as "an overspill", why is is? Why can they not see patients at the practice? Why are patients required to submit photo's so they can be diagnosed. I thought the purpose of GP's was to SEE their patients, diagnose, treat and refer them if and as required to hospital. Or am I incorrect?? The practice does has some excellent staff, but the reviews show the constraints they obviously have to operate under. The agenda they have prepared has some very interesting and topical items that are up for discussion, so a prime opportunity to ask them some searching and difficult questions they'd probably rather not be asked. Time for some scrutiny to be applied. The practice is supposed to provide a broad range of medical services for its patients, personally I do not feel this has been or is the case. Have a read of the practices online reviews, to say the least, they make painful reading. As an example. years ago, the doctor who had a surgery further up Forest Hill Road till he retired and FHRGP took over a lot of the patients from there, the doctor offered a walk in morning and afternoon surgery and did home visits in the evening. Why can FHRGP not operate something similar? They have a huge building, from what I have seen, the space is inadequately used with vast amounts sitting empty, such a waste. Other local practices, I'm sure would love to be located in such a vast building. I'd like to see much more patient involvement in how the practice operates and delivers its services to us the patients. I'd like to see much more patient involvement in how the practice operates and delivers its services to us the patients. It's the worst GP Practice I have ever experienced. Impossible to get an appointment except on the day by phoning at 08:00 and waiting a very long time with no guarantee of success. Even if you manage to get an appointment, it will likely be a 'callback' not an in-person appointment. If you do finally get an in-person appointment it will likely not be with a doctor and probably not at the practice itself. Incomprehensible 'service'. There are long-term health issues I would like to discuss with a doctor, but I don't think it's going to happen. If I'm very ill I'll ring NHS-111 and they somehow find an appointment at Tessa Jowell centre, but it's with someone who isn't a GP and doesn't know me. jazzer
A few questions to think about for the patient participation meeting at the practice 1. The FHRGP Website Why aren't the staff's names and job titles listed on the site as they used to be, and like other practice's do? 2. Allocation of appointments Why is it practically impossible to see a GP at this practice? Why are you GP's, if you do not want to see patients face to face? The pandemic is long over, you're supposed to be providing a service to your patients,, but you rather do telephone consultations, patients want to be able to see their GP, why is this? Why do you send patients to the Tessa Jowell centre to see a GP? How many doctors work Full time at this practice? Why do doctors only do three days a week working for the practice, not a full week? Why does the practice not offer a walk in morning and afternoon surgery as the previous GP on Forest Hill Road used to offer till he retired? 3. Accessing non-urgent care Thought that was what the surgery was supposed to offer!! 4. A named GP My named GP keeps on changing, must be on the 5th one by now! Are the GP's fully qualified as GP's or are they part trained associate GP's? 5. Staff name badges 6. Face to face appointments Why is it like walking through treacle to get an appointment, only to be told if you are fortunate to get an appointment that it is with a GP at the Tessa Jowell centre? How many patients in Q1 - Q4 of 2024 have had a face to face appointment with a GP at FHRGP? How many patients in Q1 - Q4 of 2024 have been referred to see a GP at Tessa Jowell Centre? And why is that? How many patients have had a home visit in Q1 - Q4 of 2024 ? 7. Older patients and apps Why not offer to help patients get the NHS app? 8. The long term plan Are you planning on closing this practice? It seems that GP's here do not want to see patients, but rather refer them to see other clinical staff here, Why is this? 9. A patients’ questionnaire We can do the questionnaire right here and now, no need to post one out. Do you have confidence in the Management and Leadership of the practice? Does the practice meet your clinical needs? How can the practice improve what it offers its patient's? Why are the resources of the practice not being fully utilised, there is so much unused and wasted space that could offer patients more services, i.e bloods, ultra sound scans, minor surgery unit? malumbu
I see both the nurse practitioner and have phone consultations with the GP, usually the same one. It's OK, it no doubt could be better. Maybe you are in a secret list, the TTFOs as they used to do before patient access to their notes. jazzer
Glad you're happy with the service they provide you. Agreed the Snr Nurse Practitioner is fantastic, it is a shame that the other clinical staff seem unable to do the same. When was the last time you had a face to face consultation with a GP at the practice? Personally, unable to remember. As for the TTFO , probably unnecessary.
