Forest Hill Road Group Practice, Patient Participation Group (PPG), Next Meeting, 6:30pm, Thursday 23rd January 2025

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

Are you are a patient at FHRGP?

I have copied the following information from their website about the next Patient Participation Group meeting to be held at 6.30pm, on Thursday 23rd January 2025.

This is an opportunity to come along, listen to what they have to say as per the Agenda, and perhaps ask some pertinent and searching questions about any concerns you may have regarding the agenda items, or any other matters regarding the Practice and the impact and consequences it has on us, the patients.

Patient Participation Group (PPG)

Next Meeting: 6:30pm Thursday 23rd January 2025

Dr Ganesh will continue to share with us the realities of general practice. The agenda will include:

The FHRGP Website

Allocation of appointments

Accessing non-urgent care

A named GP

Staff name badges

Face to face appointments

Older patients and apps

The long term plan

A patients’ questionnaire

All patients are warmly invited to share in this opportunity

Time will be given for patients’ issues including topics for PPG discussion in 2025

Please, put the date and time in your diary and come along. Change only happens, when the people (us, the patients) make our voices heard about any concerns we may have, to those who can affect change, and improve how things are run to benefit the patients.  "Things can only get better"

Are you on the PPG?  They appear to want others to engage but they also acknowledge that such a group will never be fully representative of users

There is lots on line, but it was interesting to find the last inspection report of the CQC who quote a survey done my the PPG.  https://www.cqc.org.uk/location/1-544424476/inspection-summary

I'm a patient. Over the past 9 years I have had to have more "engagement" with the Practice and believe things have significantly deteriorated.  Have you attempted to get an appointment with them?  They send patients to the Tessa Jowell Centre as "an overspill", why is is? Why can they not see patients at the practice?

Why are patients required to submit photo's so they can be diagnosed. I thought the purpose of GP's was to SEE their patients, diagnose, treat and refer them if and as required to hospital. Or am I incorrect??

The practice does has some excellent staff, but the reviews show the constraints they obviously have to operate under.

The agenda they have prepared has some very interesting and topical items that are up for discussion, so a prime opportunity to ask them some searching and difficult questions they'd probably rather not be asked.  Time for some scrutiny to be applied. The practice is supposed to provide a broad range of medical services for its patients, personally I do not feel this has been or is the case. Have a read of the practices online reviews, to say the least, they make painful reading.

As an example. years ago, the doctor who had a surgery further up Forest Hill Road till he retired and FHRGP took over a lot of the patients from there, the doctor offered a walk in morning and afternoon surgery and did home visits in the evening. Why can FHRGP not operate something similar?

They have a huge building, from what I have seen, the space is inadequately used with vast amounts sitting empty, such a waste. Other local practices, I'm sure would love to be located in such a vast building.

I'd like to see much more patient involvement in how the practice operates and delivers its services to us the patients.

It's the worst GP Practice I have ever experienced. Impossible to get an appointment except on the day by phoning at 08:00 and waiting a very long time with no guarantee of success. Even if you manage to get an appointment, it will likely be a 'callback' not an in-person appointment. If you do finally get an in-person appointment it will likely not be with a doctor and probably not at the practice itself. Incomprehensible 'service'.

There are long-term health issues I would like to discuss with a doctor, but I don't think it's going to happen. If I'm very ill I'll ring NHS-111 and they somehow find an appointment at Tessa Jowell centre, but it's with someone who isn't a GP and doesn't know me.

    • Spotted 6/7 different piles all around East Dulwich on my lunchtime walk.  Fully behind bringing back medieval punishment for this sort of thing. Nothing that would actually harm anyone but every Saturday morning put the guilty culprit in the stocks on Goose Green and launch rotten veg or their dogs sh*t at them. £1 a go for the baying public.  A punishment that would make people think twice instead of a fine which clearly isn't much of a deterrent.
    • Crystal Palace Road and Crawthew Grove too.  And Goose Green is full of it.
    • Is there some easy way of finding out how much Gift Aid the hospice shop has  made from my donations? I have emails from Oxfam, but nothing from St Christopher's,  even though I have donated more to them! I know I could ask in the shop, but I imagine the Gift Aid admin is run from elsewhere.
    • I’ve reported the water leak outside 36/38 Dunstans Road to Thames Water and Southwark Council yet again this morning.   This has been going on for about 18 months now. This is really dangerous when it freezes over like today, causing me (and maybe others) to come off my bike last year in front of oncoming traffic.  Does anybody know what’s going on? Thank you.
