Callummurphy123
Good Evening, my partner is studying for her child psychotherapy master's with the NHS Tavistock and Portman clinic. She is studying to become a child psychotherapist, as part of this course she needs to study the relationship between a mother and a newborn baby. She has to observe the newborn child with the mother for 1 hour a week over a 2 year period, she can be very flexible on the day/time each week and it's ok to miss a few weeks here and there for holidays etc. If she doesn't manage to find a mother and child to study soon then she will have to stay for another year in her master's, she is really stressed because that adds a large financial burden. She has worked really hard to get to this point. Please please please if you know anyone that has a newborn baby less than 4 weeks old or is pregnant and willing to take part-message me. She is willing to travel anywhere and is flexible on the time, preferably in southeast London. She had a mother and child recently agree but they have had to leave the country for an emergency so she is suddenly very worried and quite desperate. The official line is that the mothers start to notice things about their children that they would never have realised. The study is mainly focused on understanding child development and is said to be a very rewarding experience. As a side note, this is not related to Transgender issues- the Tavistock and Portman made it clear at the start of the course that they no longer deal with Transgender patients but they are nonetheless proud of their history. If anyone was willing to take part, she would ensure to send information verifying who she is and would meet you in a public place of your choosing. I understand it seems quite creepy and you wouldn't be crazy for thinking this is an advert put up by a creep. Pugwash
Not sure whether it would be allowed, but could your partner put a notice up where antenatal classes are held? Natural Childbirth Classes? Mumsnet? I had to do a child observation as part of my professional qualification, but this was 2 hours weekly for one term, I was at Goldsmiths' University and the criteria was that it had to be a child under3 years. I did mine at a local authority nursery. Even though I had 2 children (one being under 7 at that point) I found the observation of the 2 year old girl fascinating- you observe so much more as a student rather than a parent. Because i was focusing on one child, I was able to give feedback to the nursery staff as to the child's interactions with others etc. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/354847-desperate-psychotherapy-masters-student/#findComment-1690946 Share on other sites
