Hi ED Forum! We're looking to submit a planning application to Southwark Council for a loft conversion (we're a corner plot so have stricter PD limitations) and have had some neighbours advising us to use the pre-application service, whereas others said it was a waste of time / money. Does anyone have experience using it before a planning application and happy to share any advice / recommendations? Thanks!

    • The 'dodgy' first roofers did do a reasonable job on our boiler house roof earlier in the year. We got them via Check a Trade. The one we have now came via Southwark Trading Standard list of approved contractors.
    • Hi has anyone got any feedback for good sixth form college recommendations? My son is being a bit vague about subject areas but i think would benefit from a more independent learning environment so i'm looking for a generally positive and supportive environment where he feels part of something and learns some skills post GCSE's. He can travel out of the area so any feedback very gratefully received!
    • Don't know about the process but suggest getting your neighbours on board regards your conversion, which will reduce the liklihood of objections and do listen to them if they have alternative suggestions.
    • Yes she does, that's how I know she is an excellent teacher! I only had classes with her but am thinking of having individual lessons. I had to stop for health reasons, but want to go back.
