What are our rights here? An item on the shelf has a price tag and next to it a discounted price if you have a club loyalty card or whatever, the expiry date for the offer is a few days in the future. Clearly you expect to be charged the discounted price because you have a loyalty card.

You get to the staffed till, scan your card but the discount for the item in question has not been honoured and you've been charged full price. You tell the staff member but they go ignorant and insist the price is the full price without the discount. You go to point out the label on the shelf but they just ignore it. It was traditional to be charged the price shown on the shelf regardless and then up to the shop to correct it there and then, they don't do that now they just call you a liar.

I made a complaint online and was told it was not a staff issue, staff are employed as robots nowadays and self-appointed security guards especially in the express stores. I was told next time to go detective and take photos of all the evidence so feedback can be sent to management. That's more work that what the discount is, what a joke.

Yet another reason why all supermarkets should be thrown down the pit. Along with all their lies and horrid carparks. And their disgraceful treatment and terrible conditioning of their underpaid slaves. And their horrible antisocial robots who no one can even talk to, which also make their slaves even cheaper. Get rid.   X

Yes it's a rubbish system.

Last Christmas at DKH Sainsbury's I was charged the wrong price for a similar reason.

I was told I should have taken a photo of the label on the shelf before bringing the item to the checkout!

Why would it even cross my mind to do that?

I was made to go through all the Christmas shoppers to the other side of the store to take a photo, and only then did I get charged the correct price. This was a matter of several pounds, not a few pence. It was a bottle of Kahlua.

When I subsequently suggested there was something wrong with their systems and that many other people must also have been charged the wrong price, and probably not noticed if they had full Christmas trolleys of stuff, I was told that complaints were not dealt with by the store manager.

I was told I would have to complain to Head Office, that I could not do this by email, and that I would have to send them a letter.

I just gave up. There's a limit to how much of my life I want to spend in trying to put things right.

Funny how these errors always seem to be in the shop's favour.

Never had a problem with the discount being applied with a "club" loyalty card, so Tesco and Sainsburys have been fine, however in Morrisons a reduced price advertised on the item, took a photo just in case, at checkout charged full price even though photo shown as evidence. Some dodgy practices being undertaken.

    • Well, well, well! Pretty disappointing and tacky. I have some sympathy for Tesla owners but although he has shown his colours now, Elon was always a tosser.  I have always been sad and frustrated by Belair House, and I wish someone could get a grip and market it successfully as a good redto and bar. As the earlier comment said it is a beautiful building in a great location, albeit a bit shabby here and there. Over the years we have eaten and had drinks there but the last time was about 5 years ago and we haven't been back since after a cockroach crawled up my arm as I waited at the bar for my pint...

    • No they were created by a Hong Kong artist and became a craze when a K-Pop girl band became associated with them. They do limited editions and they've become a collectors item (Like Jelicat for adults)- I'm a bit ashamed that at 65 years old I know so much about them but they are very much a fashionable item. And I'm always interested in Popular Culture. Whover lost it must be gutted because I understand that when you buy one (they're boxed) you never know which one or what colour you'll get...so if the owner loved that one it may be very difficult to replace.
