Great Bars of the World. Cayote Ugly ... Hogs and Heifers

Recommended Posts

Jaysus you don't mean the Swan at Stockwell do you? On a thread entitled "Great Bars of the World". If you think the Swan is one of the great bars of the world then you haven't really been getting out as much as you think you have.

I didn't want to lower the tone but yes it was a cracker. I had a mate went there every night literally. And pulled nearly every time. But if you couldn't pull in the Swan...

It was the perfect storm...a triangle consisting of a well connected tube station, half decent curry house, and a late night drinking venue. I'm surprised it's not known as the Stockwell Triangle, because when you woke up on a Saturday morning all your money had mysteriously disappeared...

I've eaten at Pearl. It's a restaurant with a small bar at the entrance. NOT a bar with a restaurant. Food not that special but the view is magnificent and the ride up is pretty special too.

Dive Bar? Yeah, been in there a couple of times but don't really remember much about it. In fact I've often ended up in quite a few dive bars on any given night out in Soho. Gerry's for example.

I like the French House though. And I like The Ship too. In fact in the old days (old fart alert)... You'd start your night out in The Ship on Wardour Street, pop next door to the Marquee Club to catch a band and try and get Lemmy off the fecking pinball machine then stagger over the road to the St Moritz Club. How you got home is anybody's guess.

Now that was a proper club - when it was The Harp - money taken on the door on a Sunday night by two old Irish geezers, Dan Dare on the turntables and taking refuge on the balcony when knackered.

There was a huge bra hanging up amongst the many behind the bar and it was a Double G. I did wonder who it belonged to.

I kept my decency GG, worry not.

    • Hello,  Does anyone know of a garage to rent in the East Dulwich area?  Best,  Anthony
    • So glad to give support in any small way. It happens more often than you think. I live near a footpath anf once came home from holiday to find that someone had poured paint through the bottom of the fence which had run all down through my soil and on to my plants. It was a job trying to dig out all the contaminated soil and to this day I still find bits of paint in the soil. No idea who it was or why they would do such a thing.
    • Glad this is back on, looking forward to seeing you all tonight
    • Hello,  I am a journalist for the Sunday Times investigating VW car badge's being stolen for a news story. I saw this thread and would love to speak to any of those who posted who had this happen to them. It doesn't have to be a VW, I'm also interested in covering other car owners/makes hit by this crime. My contact details are below - please get in touch if you can help or if you have heard about someone who has fallen victim to this locally  give them my details and let them know I would like to speak to them. Particularly interested in hearing from @KB77 @jim_the_chin @d walker @ed26 @OG25  on this thread if you could email or call me. Thanks!
