giggirl
Jaysus you don't mean the Swan at Stockwell do you? On a thread entitled "Great Bars of the World". If you think the Swan is one of the great bars of the world then you haven't really been getting out as much as you think you have. giggirl
Excuse me but isn't this the place that had a house band called "The Joshua Trio" with doppleganger Bono? maxxi
Nope - I'm with quids on this one, a bar is not a pub - mind you neither was the swan - it was a feckin boozer. Even on a 'best pubs etc.' thread it would only rank in the 'mistakes I have made' category. ????
But I would count the Bar under the Spice of Life ( way before 90s refurbishment) as a bar as it had a separate entrance and name. I'm surprised it's not known as the Stockwell Triangle, because when you woke up on a Saturday morning all your money had mysteriously disappeared... Otta
The Swan was bordering on club. Same owners as the Venue in New Cross, and similar set up, just in an old pub building. KidKruger
Dive Bar on Gerard St was a classic, the guy who DJ'd there for years at weekends was ace. Jah Lush
Dive Bar? Yeah, been in there a couple of times but don't really remember much about it. In fact I've often ended up in quite a few dive bars on any given night out in Soho. Gerry's for example.I like the French House though. And I like The Ship too. In fact in the old days (old fart alert)... You'd start your night out in The Ship on Wardour Street, pop next door to the Marquee Club to catch a band and try and get Lemmy off the fecking pinball machine then stagger over the road to the St Moritz Club. How you got home is anybody's guess.
