Hello all,

I hope this is the correct part of the forum to put this on. I am a local nurse and midwife who is trying to raise some funds for medical treatment for complex surgery which I require on my jaw.

I would really appreciate any support or just spreading the word around Dulwich!

Thank you in advance x

This sounds hellish.  Have you thought of contacting BBC local news, both TV and radio as well as the ITV local news?   There is a known shortage of midwives so it’s sad that you are having to stop work.  Woman’s Hour on Radio 4 would be another programme.

Hi Azalea, thank you for this! Yes I’ve reached out to BBC London but if you or people of this forum have any other ideas / connections I’d be very interested to hear them! Obviously Southwark News picked up on it but would like to raise more awareness of the condition and my fundraising for treatment.

and yes it is very sad as I love being a nurse & midwife and am very keen to get back to it but feel frustrated that I have been failed by the NHS at my time in need.

Hi all, thank you so much to the lovely people of this forum who have donated. I still have a very long way to go and appreciate anything anyone is able to contribute ❤️

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for local businesses/establishments that may be able to help? I was thinking maybe Dulwich College?

the link again is here https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/tmjhelp ❤️

Morning all, just giving my fundraising efforts a little boost as seems to have stalled a bit in the hope that people will feel in the Christmas giving cheer! Once again I am really so grateful for any donations and desperate to have this surgery ASAP.

I have tried emailing around Dulwich businesses, Woman's hour as suggested before, BBC local news but not had much success so am open to more suggestions too as how I could try and get more coverage and donations.

Thanks again ❤️

    • That sounds thoughtful and lovely of you. I would personally go inside the shop and ask and see what they would prefer. I am sure they will be touched that you/we feel his loss within the community.

    • Another recommendation for Danny here!  After carrying out extensive work on our property in 2018, we have constantly had problems  with the newly built roof.  Then followed numerous fixes and bodges by the builders then by other so called 'experts' and professionals' charging extortionate amounts and / or giving guarantees that amounted to nothing.  Lots of 'it could be this and that etc...'  Sadly our tale of woe is not uncommon. After getting a number of people to look at the roof - the consensus was that the whole roof needed redoing (it was clear that by now the roof looked a mess with multiple things done wrong or poorly).  We obtained quotes and decided to go with Danny - his was the most competitive but it was not overriding factor behind why we did.  Danny made clear what the quote covered and where there might be extra work required as he got to it (this was fairly minor). He was easy to get a hold of and responded promptly and he was also happy to offer up refences which I did contact and all were happy to vouch for him. Minor downside was that we had a bit of a wait, but it was worth it.  When work started I was kept updated with progress and photos.  Issues were dealt with, and although I'm not an expert by any means the appearance of the work was top.  Most importantly we are leak free! I'd have no issues at all recommending Danny.  Feel free to PM me.
    • I'm heartbroken to read this. He was such a nice guy. I'd like to lay some flowers outside the shop, does that sound appropriate?
