Hello all,

I hope this is the correct part of the forum to put this on. I am a local nurse and midwife who is trying to raise some funds for medical treatment for complex surgery which I require on my jaw.

I would really appreciate any support or just spreading the word around Dulwich!

Thank you in advance x

This sounds hellish.  Have you thought of contacting BBC local news, both TV and radio as well as the ITV local news?   There is a known shortage of midwives so it’s sad that you are having to stop work.  Woman’s Hour on Radio 4 would be another programme.

Hi Azalea, thank you for this! Yes I’ve reached out to BBC London but if you or people of this forum have any other ideas / connections I’d be very interested to hear them! Obviously Southwark News picked up on it but would like to raise more awareness of the condition and my fundraising for treatment.

and yes it is very sad as I love being a nurse & midwife and am very keen to get back to it but feel frustrated that I have been failed by the NHS at my time in need.

Hi all, thank you so much to the lovely people of this forum who have donated. I still have a very long way to go and appreciate anything anyone is able to contribute ❤️

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for local businesses/establishments that may be able to help? I was thinking maybe Dulwich College?

the link again is here https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/tmjhelp ❤️

Morning all, just giving my fundraising efforts a little boost as seems to have stalled a bit in the hope that people will feel in the Christmas giving cheer! Once again I am really so grateful for any donations and desperate to have this surgery ASAP.

I have tried emailing around Dulwich businesses, Woman's hour as suggested before, BBC local news but not had much success so am open to more suggestions too as how I could try and get more coverage and donations.

Thanks again ❤️

    • Mystey solved!    As pointed out by a few of you - this was indeed a mistake from a council subcontractor who instals keysafes.  Just a couple of emails with the council (thanks IionaM for the heads up), and they are now scheduled to come and take it off (AND fix the wall) next week.  Very happy with the response from the council. It was an odd mistake to make but it seems it will be reverted 🙂
    • Helping a family friend.  Fireplace and fire breast removed leaving the rectangular base of the hearth. Reasonably flush with exposed wooden floorboards. Anyone have this in their gaff?  Simple thing would be to paint it with brown floor paint, other options are jazzy Victorian self adhesive vinyl tiles or put some quarry tiles on it.  Latter two both a feature but not sure a  raised surface works. Place came like this.  I'd be happier with an original Victorian fireplace.
