annaj
I have a favour to ask...My sister works for Brook, a charity that offers free confidential sexual health advice and services to young people, it's a cause she's passionate about and they do great work. The charity is currently updating it's image a bit and part of that is redesigning the logo, which is where you all come in. If you go to the Brook website (I've only just learnt how to do the thing where you make the link into words BTW, I'm very proud) you'll see a purple blob asking you to vote. Click on the blob and you can look at the shortlist of designs and vote for your favourite. It might seem like a really small thing, but branding (as I believe it's called) can be really important in how the charity is perceived and how identifiable and memorable it is.If this forum is anything it's opinionated, so go on, take a few minutes and express an opinion, it'll really help*. Thanks!*If any of you have piles of spare cash lying around that would also help tons.....;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3524-opinions-please/ Share on other sites
HonaloochieB
Good for your sis Annaj. It's the sort of resource that sometimes gets either forgoten about or portrayed as overly 'liberal' and encouraging all sorts of carrrying on amongst the young 'uns. I am aware of several young people who have benefited hugely from the help offered. Not parents, not social care just objective and informed advice.Good people. Huguenot
Annaj it's not a small thing! It shouldn't be that difficult! As a primary colour red is associated with danger, so NO!2 and 4 are both too clinical to appeal to young people.5 is too busy.3 is the default. Are you asking people for the veneer of democratic respectability? It really shouldn't have reached this far!I think it's a brilliant contribution, and your sister is the bee's knees. annaj
Thank you HonoloochieB and Huguenot (love the middle of the night posting btw makes forum life much more interesting for the shift working forumite). I think she's the bee's knees too!I don't think it's really about respectibility, more about appealing to their target group, the old logo is a bit dated. Sadly, most of us are well out of their target age group, but varied opinions are still relevant. Thanks everyone who's looked. I hope you're all voting as well. SeanMacGabhann
I wouldn't say red is ALWAYS associated with danger (to the general public anyway) - the country's best selling newspaper has done well out of it for decadesI've done my bit and thanks Annaj for publicising... annaj
Had some feedback from my sister about this today she said the comments on here were really interesting. In case you're interested at the last count design No.2 was the favourite with No.5 and No.4 close behind. Huguenot's default choice No.3 is in last place. They are also aware of the potential "stop" or "danger" associations with red, but are trying it with people anyway, because it's done pretty well as the colour of prominent AIDs charities. Finally, although most of us are not the age group that Brook helps, we are in the age bracket of most of their supporters. So, our opinions are important since the image has to appeal to those who might fund, as well as those who might use, the service. Thanks again everyone who's commented and voted. Keep it up! bignumber5
gotta say i like no.2, but no idea why: can't say that i associate red with danger particularly but that one just looks a little gaudy.(multiple edits for inability to type in a recognisable language with just 1 attempt) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3524-opinions-please/#findComment-110481 Share on other sites

Guest
Pongo, are you an alter ego of another poster? I find them hard to spot sometimes. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3524-opinions-please/#findComment-110506 Share on other sites
Huguenot
Number 5 is just hideous. It's really second place? Blinky blonky blimey. There's an awful lot of people smoking the crack pipe. annaj
Steady on Huguenot, I voted for number 5 (in more ways than one I suppose).Pongo, I'm really not sure what your point is. I realise it's a bit cheeky to post on here asking people to take part in this survey, but it's not like I don't use the forum regularly and it doesn't really do any harm and might just help out a great charity. Keef
I actually like the red version of design 2, and don't think teenagers would really thing DANGER when they saw it. Huguenot
;-)Isn't there a saying 'blue and green should never be seen'? I don't know why that should be, but I certainly find it difficult to resolve them separately. It sort of has a muddy ill-defined feel to it.Someone suggested that it was an issue with colour-blindness also? Ant
I like the red one too.Still, that's just me. Well known for living on the edge and all that... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3524-opinions-please/#findComment-110597 Share on other sites
Keef
The blue & green design 1 just looks very trendy corporate to me, don't think it works. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3524-opinions-please/#findComment-110643 Share on other sites
