Pugwash
Just a query at this stage. I have friends 79 and 82 who own a half house in ED which they cannot maintain and requires renovation. The wife walks with a 3 wheeler, a husband with stick. They are not eligible being owner occupiers for council or sheltered housing and ideally would like to sell their property and purchase a ground floor flat. I fear they are going to be disappointed when they realise that this will not be as easy as they thought.I suggested that they sell up and consider privately renting. They want to remain in ED where their friends/church/community links are. They have own furniture and no pets. Does anyone know of an estate agent/letting agent that would be willing to rent out to pensioners? Apart from state pensions, neither of couple are on benefits( I have suggested that they apply for Attendance Allowance for husband as he needs help with personal care. To apply for a home improvement grant would take too long ( almost a year it took another elderly friend from start to finish re paperwork). As I say - only a general query at this stage.
