hibbs
Another excellent evening, lovely to see you all - sorry I slipped off home enroute to David's, the fresh air hit me and so did a rather painful headache. I hear the hardcore were still going at 3am... xx Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3516-edf-drinks-at-the-herne/page/6/#findComment-115105 Share on other sites

Bellenden Belle
Jus a quick note to say how lovely Friday was - lots of familiar faces but also a chance to talk more with Strawbs, Jaws and David Carnell, the prankster that is Azul, Brendan, and Chav - who once again entertained us thoroughly. AndrewcBlack - I am sure you once againn captured the evening, looking forward to seeing the results.Looking forward to the next. Michael Palaeologus
The Gowlett is a good choice.August may actually see some nice weather (ironic as I balefully gaze at the rain through the window) so we could try The Plough as it has a great beer garden.Any other thoughts? Brendan
Will this new place that they're opening where Inside27 (gods rest her soul) used to be, be open by then?I'm normally not the cocktail bar type, even though I worked in one for 3 years, but it may be a bit of a change from the norm. georgia
I think that opens end of Aug. I would go for Gowlett or Plough Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3516-edf-drinks-at-the-herne/page/6/#findComment-115325 Share on other sites
citizenED
What about the "cracking Little Boozer" that is being opened where Page 2 was?Otherwise Gowlett or Plough. Jah Lush
The Gowlett was my first Forum drinks more than a year ago (ah! the memories) and I'd definitely go for that again or the Plough or the Clockhouse. All good choices. I think I've missed the last three or four jolly-ups so I will hopefully try to get to the next one. Michael Palaeologus
Georgia decreed that it would be the first Friday of the month and we all complied with her wishes. SeanMacGabhann
Happy with all of the above choicesWe seem to be on lap 2 of previous venues - which I'm more than happy with. But just wanted to say I'm also open to the idea of venturing slightly further afield to your Nuns Heads, Ivy Housees etc(I'd REALLY like us to go to the Montague Arms on Queens Rd.... but that's probably too far. I've been before but here is a recent review from BITE)[quote name=I went here for the first time yesterday having been "dragged" out to the wilds of southeast London for a Sunday roast by one of my best friends. All my grumbling about the fuss and buses stopped the instant I walked through the door though. The interior has to be seen to be believed. A marvellous mix of seafaring paraphernalia' date=' tools, taxidermy, and other assorted fittings made for one of the most interesting inns I?ve ever been in.London Pride, Speckled Hen, and Black Sheep were the ales on and several pints of the latter were had with a great value Sunday roast. Not really a place for vegetarians, apart from the assorted mammals adorning the walls, but there were two dishes for those who don?t eat meat.We were also regaled with some most excellent renditions of "The Wheels on the Bus", "Run Rabbit Run", and "Norwegian Wood" on a keyboard] Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3516-edf-drinks-at-the-herne/page/6/#findComment-115387 Share on other sites
Michael Palaeologus
Clearly Moos is the woman for current knowledge of such singage.Possibly abit far flung for a mainstream drink - but we could start a roving drinking group. exploring the interesting boozers of this great capital. Michael Palaeologus
Gowlette is a 5 minute stagger from mine, so I am all for it.Its also where the First Tuesday group meet to discuss PROPER books, so must be good. Franki
oi Michael, watch it! ;-) I'm up for the Gowlett too, hope to make it. And there's a pool table too so we might be able to get a few games in. If we get tipsy enough we could play 'killer pool' so lots of us can play at the same time :)) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3516-edf-drinks-at-the-herne/page/6/#findComment-115480 Share on other sites
david_carnell
Where is Mr Black with some photos? He's very slow this month. So unlike him.Although given the state I was in I wonder whether asking for pictorial evidence is wise?
