Bug going round?

Sue

Yet again I wonder if anyone else has what seems to be some kind of bug (Covid test negative).

Runny nose on and off for over a week, stuffy head, feeling tired and low energy and a bit crap and a bit headachy and dizzy, but no other cold symptoms.

Just me?

I've been feeling the same on and off for the past week and have put it down to the muggy weather and thundery atmosphere.  Feeling much much better after last night's rain.

Glad for you, but I feel worse today! 😭

A friend of mine just told me on Facebook he has been feeling like this on and off for SIX WEEKS 😭

New Covid strains are around and not picked up by a Covid test. Wear a good mask when you go out.

Oh dear.

Thanks for that, I didn't know.

I will definitely wear a mask if I have to go out, but it feels like I need to rest at the moment.

At least I'm sort of glad to hear it's something going around, it's a bit worrying when you don't know what's wrong.

I had pressure headaches for a couple of weeks until the cold finally came out.

Exacerbated by weird bloating and feeling nausea, thankfully a friend also had similar otherwise I'd have worried more.

Treated myself to some night nurse, rarely do that

Same. For over a week now. Feels similar to a my last Covid infection.

Thanks both.

I have heard of some people where a Covid test wasn't positive until several days after symptoms started.

Also it did belatedly occur to me that some of the symptoms eg the dizziness were similar to the first time I got Covid, shortly after the first lockdown.

But it's a bit pointless sticking a label on it, it's clearly some virus.

Commiserations to everyone else who has it. Let's hope we all recover quickly!

Where I work virtually everyone has fallen ill with a sort of nausea/bloating bug with flu-ish symptoms.

This has been affecting various people for the past two weeks.

Sounds like what Castleton posted above, but different to what I've got.

Hope you all get better soon, it sounds horrible.

Oh great. Now I appear to have practically lost my voice (some people may think this is a good thing).

Can't be a different bug, as I haven't been out.

Anyone else? What weird symptoms. I'm really fed up, yesterday I thought I was on the mend 😭

Sue, you need to go out anyway. Weather should be decent over the next twenty four hours. Get some vitamin D processed. X

???

I feel really weak and  dizzy, I don't think it's a good idea at all to be out.

And my vitamin D level is actually much too high. Last time I had blood tests, my  GP told me to stop taking vitamin tablets.

But thanks for your concern! I appreciate the advice, but I only came on here to see if other people had similar symptoms!

Thanks for this, IlonaM.

I'm still ill and feeling sorry for myself.

Can't have my flu and Covid jabs till I'm over this effing bug. I've already postponed the Flu jab I had booked.

I have been out briefly a couple of times but my symptoms keep coming and going, and now I feel rubbish and have retired to bed again.

However I'm very grateful it isn't worse. I know there are a lot of people much worse off than me.

I'm tucked up under a duvet with a radiator on and a pile of books.

Commiserations to everyone else who is ill at the moment.

They're using both Spikevax (Moderna) and Pfizer ones this time, but say individuals don't have any choice (though I don't think that necessarily precludes their choosing to override specified practice if you give them good reason).  When I was looking around for the basic information -- https://www.nhs.uk/vaccinations/covid-19-vaccine/  easily found  via https://nhs.uk --  I didn't get round to finding who they'll give which to.  It will be there somewhere.  Look maybe for something on the technical side for practitioners and administrators, like the Green Book.

ETA: More info here about the JCVI  vaccine recommendations, though even there I can't see anything definite re the over-18s.  https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-autumn-2024-vaccination-programme-jcvi-advice-8-april-2024/jcvi-statement-on-the-covid-19-vaccination-programme-for-autumn-2024-8-april-2024 .A rash guess would be that the Moderna one would be chosen, as easier to manage, and possibly cheaper.  But I see that there too you get pointed to the Green Book.

ETA PS:  I see that in November 23 I was given the Pfizer one, at a pharmacy, so no more guesses from me.

    • Criminals prefer well lit streets too.  I expect that Southwark has turned up the brightness of the street lights which has increased crime.
    • Male acting very suspiciously on Court Lane and adjacent roads (Calton Avenue, Gilkes Crescent, Woodwarde Road etc…) There’s been a very significant increase in crime on these roads and adjacent roads due to the Southwark Council LTN, even more so with the recent works that are ongoing Residents and their property are being deliberately and negligently put at risk by Southwark Council’s actions and criminals are deliberately targeting this area and exploiting it given significantly reduced flow of people, much quieter, poor lighting, easy getaway and no access for the police The closure of the junction at Court Lane, Dulwich Village and Calton Avenue is a boon to thieves and criminals making the adjacent streets much less safe. The workmen have put in place wrought iron bollards in the middle of the road on Court Lane and Calton Avenue which stops police and other emergency services from accessing from Dulwich Village This materially increases the risks to residents and crime has gone up materially as a result The workmen say that they are under strict instructions from Southwark Council to put the wrought iron bollards in the middle of the road and that there’s nothing that they can do it alao stops ambulances and fire engines from getting through
