Bug going round?

Sue

Yet again I wonder if anyone else has what seems to be some kind of bug (Covid test negative).

Runny nose on and off for over a week, stuffy head, feeling tired and low energy and a bit crap and a bit headachy and dizzy, but no other cold symptoms.

Just me?

I've been feeling the same on and off for the past week and have put it down to the muggy weather and thundery atmosphere.  Feeling much much better after last night's rain.

Glad for you, but I feel worse today! 😭

A friend of mine just told me on Facebook he has been feeling like this on and off for SIX WEEKS 😭

New Covid strains are around and not picked up by a Covid test. Wear a good mask when you go out.

Oh dear.

Thanks for that, I didn't know.

I will definitely wear a mask if I have to go out, but it feels like I need to rest at the moment.

At least I'm sort of glad to hear it's something going around, it's a bit worrying when you don't know what's wrong.

I had pressure headaches for a couple of weeks until the cold finally came out.

Exacerbated by weird bloating and feeling nausea, thankfully a friend also had similar otherwise I'd have worried more.

Treated myself to some night nurse, rarely do that

Same. For over a week now. Feels similar to a my last Covid infection.

Thanks both.

I have heard of some people where a Covid test wasn't positive until several days after symptoms started.

Also it did belatedly occur to me that some of the symptoms eg the dizziness were similar to the first time I got Covid, shortly after the first lockdown.

But it's a bit pointless sticking a label on it, it's clearly some virus.

Commiserations to everyone else who has it. Let's hope we all recover quickly!

Where I work virtually everyone has fallen ill with a sort of nausea/bloating bug with flu-ish symptoms.

This has been affecting various people for the past two weeks.

Sounds like what Castleton posted above, but different to what I've got.

Hope you all get better soon, it sounds horrible.

Oh great. Now I appear to have practically lost my voice (some people may think this is a good thing).

Can't be a different bug, as I haven't been out.

Anyone else? What weird symptoms. I'm really fed up, yesterday I thought I was on the mend 😭

Sue, you need to go out anyway. Weather should be decent over the next twenty four hours. Get some vitamin D processed. X

???

I feel really weak and  dizzy, I don't think it's a good idea at all to be out.

And my vitamin D level is actually much too high. Last time I had blood tests, my  GP told me to stop taking vitamin tablets.

But thanks for your concern! I appreciate the advice, but I only came on here to see if other people had similar symptoms!

Thanks for this, IlonaM.

I'm still ill and feeling sorry for myself.

Can't have my flu and Covid jabs till I'm over this effing bug. I've already postponed the Flu jab I had booked.

I have been out briefly a couple of times but my symptoms keep coming and going, and now I feel rubbish and have retired to bed again.

However I'm very grateful it isn't worse. I know there are a lot of people much worse off than me.

I'm tucked up under a duvet with a radiator on and a pile of books.

Commiserations to everyone else who is ill at the moment.

    • Carpets add both heat and noise insulation, my brother's house in the States was wooden framed with bare floorboards, the whole house squeaked.  And have you lived in a flat with the upstairs having bare floorboards, where you hear every step?  Yes you can insulate between the floors but some owners don't bother. You may also have lived in a house where they have destroyed the flooring by when central heating has been put in, rewiring, and the like and the builder has hacked them.  I've also seen more conscientious/tidier electricians and plumbers. No massive issues with bare floorboards, have some myself, but felt I had to stick up for floor coverings! Oh and for older suspended floors you need a few drafts to ventilate the under floor space, hopefully air bricks are still there.
    • I thought it was all done by computer from a central location. I have a water meter, not connected for payment, and have never seen anyone read my meter but they do send me letters saying how my water I am using.
    • If by small you mean narrow, I don't think you will find any front loading machines less wide than the standard 60cm. You could look at top loading machines. These are about 40cm wide, but you'll need access to the top to load the washing. There aren't many for sale in the UK but Appliances Direct advise some. https://www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/ct/laundry/washing-machines/top-loading
    • Thames Water management are awful but even I doubt that they're trying to boost their numbers by going around fraudulently misreading individual user's meters to overstate water consumption and chisel another £200 out of them. It's much more likely there's a leak, a cockup in data collection or a cockup in meter setup.
