Great great manager no doubt, but also an off putting egomaniac. Wouldn't be surprised if in his next autobiography he claims he picked someone sure to fail on purpose just to reiterate how great he had been.Personally though I don't think Moyes is as bad as a lot if people are claiming and feel he should be given one summer and season after this to prove himself. Looking less likely though. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/35029-football-focus/page/75/#findComment-724673 Share on other sites

Looking less likely though. As many have already said, this would be massive job for most. Possibly hiring someone from within the club may have been a better option. Someone like Moyes coming in cold, this particular job may be too much for them. That isn't really a criticism of Moyes but he has come from somewhere with no pressure to a cauldron. Jah Lush
Realistically, I think it will take a good two to three years to rebuild Man Utd. I'm not sure if Moyes will be given that time. Ferguson was but we are living in different times. It's taken Liverpool a number of years to get back to the club they were, though they've won nothing yet I'm sure it won't be long before they do. Alan Medic
Post Busby the team was in decline as Georgie Best knew. Frank O'Farrell and Dave Sexton, two much admired managers both failed at OT. It took two managers with big egos, Tommy Doc and Big Ron, to bring back some excitement for United followers.I can remember when the FA Cup mattered and the excitement of getting to a semi or even a final. Both managed to do this. I suspect Moyes is more of an O'Farrell or Sexton, humble guys. United may need an ego to restart them. Who could that be? maxxi
Okay it's only the eurospankers cup and it's only Spuds.. but this is turning into a fun game to be watching - like old style euro nights of recrimination, de3speration and accusations of dirty tricks etc.Sherwood looks like he'll burst something. ????
With some hindsight, I think Utd should have got someone big from overseas to start fresh.....maybe they tried. Moyes looks out of his depth, the pressure's enormous and SAF was given time but did have an extraordinary CV behind him even then......Moyes to a degree was an internal appointment. Mick Mac
I think Jermaine Defoe has always been massively underrated. He has should have been in the England team consistently. Not because he was brilliant, but because he was always hungry and shot on impulse. Parkdrive
Yes I did Jah, My response was badly worded, I meant I agree Konoplyanka was the best player on the pitch, and that I would welcome Defoe for a season at our, I've always rated him, never understood the reluctance to start him. Jah Lush
I think the reason a lot of managers who've worked with Defoe haven't given him enough starts is that he doesn't do much in build up play. His work is done in the last third. You'll rarely get an assist from him but he knows where the goal is that's for sure. Sad to see him go. Been a great servant to our club and has never moaned when he wasn't playing, he just worked harder to get back in.Over the two legs Konoplyanka impressed me enormously. Literally no one could get anywhere near him. If he gets a big move and I'm certain he will he'll be a huge asset to any club that buys him. A fantastic player. A fantastic player.defoes finishing and the fact that he didn't complain, as you, when left out did him great credit. Unlike some of the spoilt prima donnas could take a leaf out of his book. I hope he does well. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/35029-football-focus/page/75/#findComment-724962 Share on other sites
