Ozil is no dud, but describing him as world class is also pushing it. He undoubtedly has talent, but up to now he hasn't regularly shown it, and certainly can't take a game by the scruff of the neck and stamp his authority on it, like gamechangers Ronaldo and Messi regularly do. He's also got a mental flakiness, often goes missing in the big games. TJ is right when he said he went AWOL after missing the pen against Bayern. It's moments like that, that so called world class players step up to the plate and come into their own. Instead, according to Wenger, he's still not got over it. Poor thing. Honours wise he's a perpetual runner-up, and I've seen nothing to change that. I was castigated in certain quarters for saying early season that Ozil was unproven in the Premier League. So far I believe I've been proved right...
So according to RD Ozil is unproven,so please explain his assist stats and passing accuracy to me? The East Dulwich Forum is a constant source of amusement to me. Still I see Yanited are so desperate they've given the granny shagger an obscene 300k a week. Is he world class? Meh. Always goes missing for England, and will doubtless throw a strop again when things aren't going his way. HoW things have changed for the rags.

One good tournament because that was the only tournament he was fully fit for. England as a whole have been rubbish, Gerrard has hardly done himself justice in an England shirt either, does that make him a rubbish player too?

As for whether he's 'world class' or not, that's subjective and pointless to argue. He's certainly no Ronaldo or Messi, but IMO he's up there with the Robbens and Riberys of this world...

Rooney has bags of natural talent, what he doesn't have is natural athleticism...

What stats? Germany and Spain? I'm talking about him being an unproven Premier League player. Past reputations in foreign leagues count for nothing, it's reeks of arrogance to think otherwise. Anyway, stats can be misleading. Swansea have some of the best possession/passing/accuracy stats in the League. Shall we start labelling them world class? No, because what the stats don't tell you is that most of those passes are sideways in midfield.

As for paying Rooney ?300k a week, hardly an act of desperation when it would actually cost the club more to replace him like for like. Instead we've got a proven Premier Leagur player, a proven match winner, a proven trophy winner, and someone who doesn't throw a mental wobbly when he misses a penalty. Things will have changed when we go 9 years without winning nothing, not 9 months...

Thought you were taking the proverbial at first.

You do realise that the master plan was to survive by a gnat's breath so BFS would still get the Spanish fiddle.

Carry on like this and he'll get a new 5 year contract... ;-)

They do indeed. Struggled a bit yesterday but still came through with a fine three-nil victory. And Erhun ?zt?mer scored an absolute corker.

Anyway, Spurs and Man Utd can forget the top four. Looks like that those who are there will be fighting it out to the finish. Think Spurs suffered from their Europa League exploits on Thursday. A seven thousand mile round trip couldn't have helped. Also thought Sherwood's team selection was a bit iffy. Why no Erickson? For all that I'm very happy for Chris Hughton and his |Norwich team thoroughly deserved the three points today.

The Allardyce master plan - the whole mid season slump was contrived to make Irons fans grateful for Sam-Brand hoof-ball. Nearly upset when a creative player came along but thank goodness he got shot of him to QPR before he could wreck it all.

Spurs have lost 5 out of 7 post-Thurs Europa League matches...#poisoned chalice

Sherwood is learning as he goes along so will make iffy decisions. I think he's just a stop gap until you get a more experienced manager this summer, e.g. LVG post- World Cup.

Agree about Erickson, Sherwood should be selecting his team around him... http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/feb/23/norwich-city-tottenham-hotspur-tactics

Hughton has once again shown great humility in the face of unwarranted criticism, this time when he was put under uneccessary pressure from his own CEO last week, perhaps the CEO should resign if Norwich stay up...

And we need Kaboul or Chiriches back in defence to play alongside Vertongen because Dawson is not good enough. He never had pace but he seems to have lost another yard. As much as I like him and he's Spurs through and through I don't feel he is up to it anymore.

At the start of yesterday, I was very much looking over Liverpool's shoulder at the teams behind them. A loss for the pool and a win for Spurs and things would have felt very different today. But now I'm looking at the 4 point gap between us and Chelsea...

Still not expecting miricles, and nothing is settled yet, but I'm starting to feel quietly confident about the champs league place. That (and with it, keeping Suarez) is all I'd hoped for at the start of the season. It's great to see Henderson playing so well, after a lot of people wrote him off as an expensive dud a while back.

I like Spurs, and for their sake, I hope they let United overtake them and have 5th place and the Europa League with it! As I've said to Jah recently, it's still a European cup, and winning it would be great, but it's a bastard of a competition with the Thursday night games.

At least next year it will earn a champs league spot for the winners http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22640095

All the top 4 teams have been playing down their chances, but realistically they now all have a chance. I think Chelsea have the best manager and players with experience to handle the pressure when it gets cranked up...

Depending on what happens in the Cups, 6th place and lower might also qualify for the EL...

....and wreck the expectations of whoever finished 4th in the league.

Cleverly, how the hell does he get anywhere near the England side let alone Man Utd's first team. Completely non-existent tonight. This is a very poor Man Utd side. Admittedly, the same side that pissed the title last season which just goes to show what an excellent manager SAF was and he knew when to get out too. I actually feel sorry for David Moyes. He has one hell of a job on his hands and there needs to be a lot of investment in top class players next season at your club. Obviously, I'm saying nothing that you don't already know but that was a piss poor performance tonight. Time Ferdinand retired too. His decline his really rather shocking.
