Fraser equals club record.

Manager: A fantastic achievement for Fraser

By: Mark Henderson on 29 Jan, 2014 22:51

NEIL Lennon has heaped praise on Fraser Forster after he equalled the club?s long-standing league clean sheet record by amassing his 10th successive shut-out in tonight?s 4-0 victory over Kilmarnock.

The Englishman again turned in a peerless performance, the highlight of which was an outstanding save at point-blank range from Manuel Pascali?s volley.

And by keeping the Rugby Park side at bay, it meant he had matched the record achieved by the great Charlie Shaw in 1913/14 and then again in 1921/22.

Of course, we expect that. But a record that has stood for 90 odd years has to be worth something.

Its only 3 or 4 years ago that we were shipping 4 goals against St Mirren under Mowbray.

Unbeaten in 23 SPL matches, 12 consecutive wins and 10 successive clean sheets.

basically any possible score is met with a deeply disturbing ambivalence.

There is no joy in grinding a result with dire negative 19th century football except of course the joy in pissing chelsea fans off and watching Mourinho lose the plot.

I have to say I loved his 'how dare they come and play like that, though I'd probably have done the some given the circumstances' rant.

A relegation fighting team in "park the bus" just play for a point shocker ?? We've all been there-sometimes it pays for strugglers, other times it doesn't and they get punished (or as the top clubs have witnessed a cheeky last minute winner against the odds). Chelsea had 21 chances, with only 8 on target. Not a pretty game for those that have forked out to go but hey-ho.

I've said this before about Stoke (a few years ago), but at the end of the day, if you're a boxer, and you know you're going in to the ring with someone who will knock you the fuck out if you stand toe to toe, you're going to be cagey and defensive, and try to pick him off.

I have absolutely no problem with a team doing what they need to do to get a point on the table, especially when they need the points so much. I just can't stabd BFS coming out and talking like he's a tactical genius.

You parked the bus. Fair play, but don't talk like it was something special on your part.

Never mind that... Man City are on another level to everyone else at the moment. The were absolutely brilliant and played superb football last night. OK a couple of decisions didn't go Spurs way and Rose should never have been sent off but I really don't think the score line would have been much different. I wonder if Chelsea will park the bus against them. They may have too.

To be fair, west ham have a pretty poor record of bus parking, we tend to be woeful at defending set pieces and negative play is usually rewarded with goal leakage, so they did well to survive the onslaught.

Mind you, Mourinho having a pop at negative football...hmmmmmm
