It's quite a sensible move by Levy though still a bit of a gamble. He needed to appoint someone PDQ. So he promotes someone from within the club to steady the ship. If he's successful he's seen as a genius messiah and if he's not there will be plenty of top class coaches he can go for in the summer after the World Cup. Personally, I'm fed up with flavour of the month managers. Pottechini at Southampton seems to have been found out too. Six games without a win after such a promising start.

A few seasons ago Barcelona appointed from within (Pep Guardiola) someone with no managerial experience and look what happened there. Not saying we're in the same league as them as a club by any stretch of the imagination, just trying to be positive and upbeat about Sherwood's appointment.

Agree it's a sensible move to appoint Sherwood. It's quite feasible that Spurs could be level on points with Liverpool after the next two games. Crisis? What crisis?

With some of the teams above Man Utd having to play each other in the next few games, this is our last chance to get back in the mix. Hoping for more snore draws like last might's match.

Merry Christmas!...

Thought Liverpool looked damn good today despite losing. Pretty much a match for City in all areas of the pitch in what was a very competitive game and really the chances seemed equal, just a keeper error between the team's. Quite impressive I thought and could be in with a shout later in the season.

Another underwhelming performance from Spurs today. Bring back Harry, all is forgiven. And while we're at it, can we have Gareth Bale back too please.

Liverpool, a little unlucky today but they were up against a side who I think will win the title. It's Man City for me.

Anyone else want to make a prediction seeing as we're almost halfway through the season?

Didn't see the City game but from the MoTD highlights Liverpool deserved a draw. It's so tight at the top and bottom it changes week to week, so the January transfer window, injuries, Europe and Cups could have a big say as to who'll win the PL. City should win it based on their current squad, but I have a sneaky feeling Chelsea could nick it, esp if they buy a striker like Falcao in the January window. Liverpool look like genuine challengers, and although I think (hope!) they won't win the PL, they will have a big say who will, as they have to play City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton, Newcastle and Spurs at home, where their form is very good. The problem Utd have is that we are playing catch-up with 4 teams, not just one. One or two of them might implode but not all four. I think (hope!) we'll get top 4 at the expense of Arsenal and/or Liverpool.

At the bottom I can see Cardiff and Palace going down, purely based on their limited quality and size of squad, together with lack of PL experience, which leaves 1 from about 6 teams for the other spot. Most years a team goes on a bad end of season run and gets sucked into the mire, and I have a hunch this year it'll be Norwich...sorry Delia

I did some swotting on this, as though City are the obvious choice they haven't been that good away from home. They have played each of the other top 8 teams once. Results, 6 wins, 1 defeat. The only defeat was the only game they played away from home. So they have 6 'top 8' away games to come.

Contrast that to Liverpool and Chelsea, who have only played 1 home game each and thus have 6 more to come. Also given that Liverpool have no CL distractions, are good at home and do pick up points on the road, I'll plump for them. I wouldn't bet on it though.

Key is WBA game - lose that and Sam will be out.

Malky, Pepe Mel & Harry all seem to be in the frame.

Not looking good for hanging on to Ravel Morrison either with this ridiculous "West Ham have to quadruple his wages if there's a ?10 mill offer for him or sell him" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/west-ham/10539972/West-Ham-face-losing-Ravel-Morrison-over-extraordinary-clause-for-concern.html

Predictions - Chelsea to win Premier, Man C & Liverpool 2nd & 3rd with Arsenal pipping a demoralised Man U into 4th.

Irons to be relegated with Sam and survive without him.

    • I'm certainly not surly - it's Friday, so I'm in a delightful mood.  As Earl Aelfheah said, the money has to come from somewhere. But Labour new that hiking fuel as well as employee NIC in would be a step too far - for businesses and consumers. It was the right decision for this moment in time. Suggesting that someone who's against fuel duty increase on this occasion is against and fuel duty full stop is quite a leap. Why do you demonise everyone who doesn't think that owning a car is a cardinal sin?  I'm not sure using Clarkson as an example of your average farmer holds much weight as an argument, but you know that already, Mal.
    • Hope it's making others smile too! I don't know the background or how long it's been there 😊
    • If you are against the increase in fuel duty then you are surly against fuel duty full stop.  It has not kept up with inflation, I'm talking about getting it back on track.  Ultimately road user charging is the solution. Labour will probably compromise on agricultural land inheritance by raising the cap so it generally catches the Clarksons of the world who are not bothered about profits from land beyond, in his case, income from a highly successful TV series and the great publicity for the farm shop and pub
    • Were things much simpler in the 80/90s? I remember both my girls belonging to a 6th Form Consortium which covered Sydenham Girls, Forest Hill Boys and Sedgehill off Bromley Road. A level classes were spread across the 3 schools - i remember Forest Hill boys coming to Sydenham Girls for one subject (think it was sociology or psychology ) A mini bus was provided to transport pupils to different sites, But I guess with less schools being 'managed' by the local authority, providers such as Harris etc have different priorities.
