Thanks Alan. My boyhood idol. What a player he was. The greatest goalscorer I've ever seen and I've seen a few. Did you watch it? Marvellous stuff.

Yep, good to see the top 4 shaken up a bit, especially if it will be at the expense of a certain team at the other end of the East Lancs Road...

Do come and join the other thread DR, I was never expecting it to stick to cases for the ESL. Looking at some of the debate on this thread maybe shows why ESR is the logical conclusion. If football was the 'true working class' game as it perhaps was 60 years ago then most of the discussion would be about Palace and Millwall. Just take a look at kids training on the Rye on a Saturday and most will not be wearing local colours. And perhaps you have said as I have, just pee off to the ESL big 4 (now big 6); perhaps they heard me.

Even when I was growing up there was so much bias towards the 'big' clubs - not counting Chels and Man City in those days.

It's selfish and only motivated by those whose idea of fans are those paying to watch on tv in the large markets outside of Europe. If anything, the detestable fan 'muzak' played over games at empty stadia during the pandemic has probably convinced the yanks they don't need real ones at the grounds anymore.

It's just for those who want to help themselves to an 'open goal'-

Under the new rules of the breakaway Century-Super-League I not only claim the points but also the assist. Other members of the CSL include the traditional EDF big 6:

Laddy Muck

Strafer Jack

Otta

Huguenot

David Carnell

Katie 1997

with places held in reserve for;

Ted Max

Atticus

Jeremy

Marmora Man

Loz

    • They'll look fine when they grow back in the spring.  The trees that should be removed are the female gingko biloba trees that are randomly dotted about the area. These produce hundreds of fruit that contain the putrid smelling butyric acid (the same chemical that is found in vomit and rancid butter).  The smell of these tress is absolutely vile and it lingers for months on end every year. There's one at the North Cross Road end of Ulverscroft road and it's huge and stinky.   I think they should be considered a public health hazard and should all be cut down.

    • Another recommendation for Andy - he came to our home recently to make some repairs for general maintenance that needed doing. He helped us fix plumbing jobs & installed a washing machine. He also fixed a leak on a downpipe. He also hung up some pictures for us / put up some shelves & helped fix a door that was sticking.  We have used Andy for years so if you are looking for a decent / honest handyman, give Andy a call - he's our go to & a wealth of knowledge - 07564 194363
