I was interested (Otta) in the Suarez insight into how a manager manages and improves players.

I was interested in how this sits with those who have given so much credit for Liverpool's near miss to Suarez, whilst Suarez now gives much of the credit for his development to Rodgers.

Alternatively a cynic might argue that he didn't think he could cut in the premier league, and jumped ship as soon as he could. The Premier league will be all the poorer for the lack of his wonderful philosophical musings.

Yes, if there was this 'transfer committee' he would've been part of it, but your initial post implied they were his signings alone, whereas the reality may be that he didn't want certain players but had to bow down to the majority decision...

Agreed RD - Ronny Deila at Celtic, was quoted as saying "I said yes to every signing" - that's a far cry from being in any way in control of signings.

Rodgers has already said Lawell and Desmond have supported him on transfer policy - I'm guessing he feels slightly stung by the Liverpool experience and it was an important part of the Celtic discussions that he will have some autonomy. I hope so anyway - there wont be a lot of money, so he needs to spend it wisely.

Having said that if I was the Liverpool money man I'd want to have control over where my huge amount of money was going.

Mick Mack, I was one of the Liverpool fans that initially said "it can't all be down to Suarez", but it became more and more obvious that it was Suarez who had gotten the best out of Sterling and others.

But yes, I can totally believe that he helped Suarez with his game, and Steven Gerrard once said Rogers was the best man manager he'd worked with and he wished he could have worked with him earlier.

So I'd say a good signing.

Joey Barton will be 34 in September. I had no idea. Not too old obviously but given that I though Scott Brown was getting old (he turns out to be about to turn only 31) Barton is defo getting on a bit.

Roy Keane bossed the Rangers midfield at age 34, but Joey's no Roy Keane (red cards part)

He did? In all 10 games he played for them?

Did you watch the entire interview? Explains pretty well why he didn't fancy another shot in the premiership.
