I agree


It's too easy to say "just the League Cup" - but a) a lot of us like that cup these days and b) in the current climate, United need to get ANY win on the door. Losing to lower league oppo in League Cup isn't unheard of or in itself problematic - but after a traumatic last season, and a deeply troubling start to this season, they should not be losing 4-0, no matter what or who the competition

He shouldn't. His legacy is an overpriced lampshade. The annoying thing about last night was that it took the gloss of what was a real statement signing of Di Maria. AQm is right, the club just need a win, therefore the team selection was baffling, many who played last night probably won't even be at the club this time next week. It will be 'interesting' to see if LVG persists with the 3 at the back, if so where does ADM play, wing back? Personally the current CBs aren't good enough ball players to play that system. MOTD highlighted how none of them looked comfortable coming out with the ball despite the acres of space in front of them. Hopefully he'll revert to a flat back four with wingers, the United way, but I'm not holding my breath...

Agree, LVG needs the right personnel to play with three at the back and the players at his disposable just aren't there. His selection last night was baffling.

As I posted earlier ?132 million spent already this season and they are still at least three or four players short of a decent team/squad. I repeat - it's a massive rebuild at Old Trafford. There is no quick fix no matter how much money you spend or what manager you bring in. These things take time. You just have to look at what happened at Liverpool. Their current resurgence hasn't happened overnight.

In the short term, I think Van G will face widespread (and often wilful) misunderstaing


But I do think given time and money he will build a big and succesful team. I think Moyes was capable but needed even more time than Van G will be allowed, and with less of a track record)


Having chosen him, they now MUST back him. The alternative - abandoning things after a year or two could see Man Utd fall further. Way further

On the Yanited thing, the loss last night was embarrassing and makes you question the commitment of the players on the pitch. It dosn't matter that its the league club, shold you not have a modicum of pride, if not in yourself, then at least the club? Or is this an outmoded notion? Are modern players happy to take the 30 pieces of silver and not give a flying fcuk about the fans who pay good money to travel home and away? I would assume as a player for a club with the history Yanited has, you'd be up for every game and detest the notion of defeat. It seems that in the current climate, only money is mentioned when trying to put things right, no mention of pride, commitment, passion, character or work ethic.Just chuck money at the problem and hope it all goes right.These are some of the reasons I've lost much of the interest I used to have in the game.

The Di Maria thing is strange. Firstly, he says he would have only left Real to go to Yanited. The fact that he had agreed terms with PSG previously is odd. Secondly he claims he was reluctant to join Spurs, a team that finished 6th last season, and joins the team that finished 7th? Now it emerges he didn't want to leave at all and was forced out. Makes you wonder if he will be up for the hurly burly of the prem. But then footballers are full of shit, I remember Clichy saying around 2010 that players only go to City for the dosh.

I don't think VG gives a fig for the league cup or the players that may soon be on their way, he knows it will be forgiven if he does the business. Bigger problem is getting the players to do it 'his way' and play the system he thinks is right (I don't see him as the kind of manager who admits his way ISN'T right and changes it) - bit of a round peg/square hole thing at the moment.


As for BFS - playing a clearly unfit Valencia in a team made up of the unfit/not-yet-ready and sidelined against a side most West Ham fans really wanted a win against shows how far from 'getting' the club the hippo-headed old tosser really is.

Fans who follow home away WON'T be best pleased with last night, they will think they've been conned, as any right thinking fan would.

Or clubs that may have an interest will wait until the last minute to force a move with all the factors in their favour and Yanited needing to desperately off load.
