And in 1990...low expectations after Euro 1988 and guess what, a semi final - but then they had Gazza in 1990 (and in 96 too)

Spoken like a true Sperz fan. He's been decent this eason and should have been on the stand by list.

Problem is, I don't think he has a conscience...

Or he lacks adequate man management skill, or financial acumen or both.

Odd, there doesn't seem to be any discussion on who is replacing Pepe Mel. Does anyone know anything about David Moyes, or Tim Sherwood? They seem quite decent fellers but have also failed at their respective clubs.

Perhaps I'd best get onto a Manchester and a North London forum to seek advice (yes I do know that there is a certain sense of irony before you lot all get excited)

Pepe Mel? A Peppermint could manage West Brom better. Good luck in your search. There's a lot of work to be done there.

I've said before that Levy is culpable. You can't keep sacking managers left right and centre. He reminds me of Mr Burns out of The Simpsons. We need stability at the club and we haven't had that during his reign as chairman.

Sherwood should get his coaching badges first before thinking of becoming a manager again though apparently Brighton have already expressed an interest in taking him on after parting company with Garcia.

I'd quite like Frank De Boer at the club but again he is someone who lacks Premiership experience and I'm fed up with flavour of the month managers. I think Mauricio Pochettino could be the one to get the job but again his "success" at Southampton was largely built on a squad of players that was already at the club. There is a good squad of players at Spurs, they just need the right man in charge who can work hand in glove with the chairman and DOF.|

Edited to say: I'd get rid of the Director Of Football as well. Wasted far too much money on too many foreign players untested in the Premier League.

    • PCSOs may not need specific qualifications, but they go through a reasonably rigorous recruitment process. Or at least they used to. It may have changed.
    • The ones I've dropped into may be organised by PCSOs in the SNT but regular PCs have attended. They have actually been a cuppa with a copper, but not necessarily loads of them.
    • @Pereira Neves "Cuppa with a Coppa" is a misrepresentation as PCSOs are not real police.   They have no more powers of arrest that any public citizen. They may have the "authority" to advise the regular police of a crime - just like Joe Public. One exception is that they can issue fixed penalty notices to people who cycle on a footpath. We see people cycling on the footpath every day but have never seen a PCSO issue a fixed penalty notice to anybody. No  qualifications are needed to become a PCSO.  At best, all they do is reassure and advise the public with platitudes.
    • Right.  Already too many people saying “labour pushed for longer and more stringent lockdowns” which if nothing else, does seem to give credence the notion that yes people can be brainwashed    Nothing ...  Nothing Labour pushed for was about longer lockdowns.  Explicitly, and very clearly they said “lock down early OR we will be locking down for longer “   ie they were trying to prevent the longer lockdowns we had   But “positive thinking” and “nothing to see here” from Johnson led to bigger problems    as for the hand-wavery about the economic inheritance and markets being spooked by labour budget - look - things did get really really and under last government and they tried to hide it.  So when someone tries to address it, no one is going to be happy.  But pretending all was tickety boo is a child’s response
