I went on two, or possibly three, can't remember now, but still the situation in Gaza is heartbreaking. Meanwhile we have a change of government, which seems to have made not a jot of difference so far as this issue is concerned. I just despair really. I left the Labour Party and I didn't vote for them, both because of Starmer, but I honestly can't see that "telling Starmer" by going on a march is going to help change anything, though it might make me feel better. Sorry. I'm open to being persuaded otherwise. I admire the people who are persisting. IlonaM
Keep the faith Sue. Although the recent ICJ decision was a non-binding opinion, Netanyahu is under increasing pressure both at home and abroad. The Labour government has dropped the tories' challenge to the ICC's arrest warrant case against Netanyahu and others. We need to keep up the worldwide pressure. It is very hard to be optimistic with the world as it is at the moment, but we advocates for peace, humanity, human rights and respect of International Law must try. I do agree we must try, but I suppose it's about where we each focus our energies. If I thought that march had any hope of changing anything, I would have been on it. I'm wondering if some sort of letter or petition to Starmer signed by thousands of people and widely publicised might have more effect? But easy to say, and I have too much on my plate at the moment to start one myself Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/348874-national-march-for-palestine-3rd-august-2024-london/#findComment-1674768 Share on other sites
