Fix squeaky floorboards

You may get lucky and be able to use a counter sink and hammer to bolster the existing Brad/Cut-clasp nails down. Failing this, please read below:

Always lift floorboards before nailing or screwing loose ones. 9 times out of 10 there's a reason they're loose I.e plumbing or electrical works.

Check areas are free of the above, relay, then secure using cut-clasp nails or tongue tite screws (can be found on Screwfix).

For Tongue and groove flooring, you will first need to use a multi tool with a wood cutting attachment.

Use masking tape or similar to mark a maximum of 5mm depth from the teeth of the blade. This is to ensure the cuts don't go antydeeper than necessary (to avoid cutting pipes/wires).

Proceed to make cuts along the length of the boards. Before careuly prying using a hammer and pry bar.

    • Why is it a terrible place for teenagers?
    • Well, if you ever find yourself visiting, let us know
    • Before I switched, if memory serves there was some sort of thing on Thames Water's website which you could use to determine whether or not you would be better off with a meter. No idea if it's still there. Also, I have a vague recollection that if you found you were worse off financially with the meter after a certain time period, you could switch back. Have I imagined that? Whatever, I don't actually recall hearing of anyone who thought they were worse off with a meter, though I'm sure there must be some.
    • Don't move to Southwark at all, save yourselves while you still can. Terrible place for teenagers, IMO.
