According to Southern Rail it's due to "a structural fault with the station entrance". It's about time they got on with redeveloping the station once and for all - if this isn't impetus to do so I don't know what is.

Was amused to see my train still stop there this morning and lots of people get off. A memeber of staff appeared looking a bit panicked but the train was moving away by then. I wonder if all the people are still in the station

How can it take 3 hours to fix the shutters (or is that an excuse)

- oh well, 63 bus and the station opened as I got to Elephant.

I was told (by a station staff member)that the shutters came down in a faulty way and hit a member of staff.
