Recommendation for Builders

I was recommended the builders by my Daughter. We had wanted to convert the loft for a very long time, rather than move out of the area to gain more space. Once we had seen the work completed at my Daughters property, it convinced us to convert and to use the builders she had used, Sky High Builders. Marven runs the business; he has exceptional attention to detail. He conducted a pre-work meeting to go through every step of the build and how we would be invoiced. He let us know who would be working, what they would be doing and when. If there was a query he was always on-hand to discuss. The end result was absolutely fantastic, should have done it years ago! Nice for guests to have their own space with an en-suite.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Marven and Sky-High Builders and will use him again to re-fit my kitchen.

I'd like to second the recommendation for Marvin.

We used his building company for our loft conversion on Heber Road in 2008 and were extremely pleased with the whole process and the finished product was excellent.

When we needed some more work doing on our house on Friern in 2011, we got them in again to do 2 new bathrooms, 5 bedrooms, full rewire and new boiler/central heating etc. All the trades were excellent as usual, so I'd fully recommend Marvin for all types of building works - not just lofts.

Still quite often see the team around ED - they're all very reliable, local tradesmen.

I would like to add to these recommendations, below is my posting from earlier this year but would also like to add, we recently had a minor issue arise and Marven was so quick to sort it, really going the extra and making sure that he fully investigated it, re looking at all sorts of stuff. Very reassuring!

Recommendation for builder - loft conversion

We have recently had our loft converted and a bathroom renovated by Sky high builders and I would thoroughly recommend them.

The entire team is lovely, every one of them went the extra mile. They are happy to approach designs and problems creatively which means we have achieved a loft exactly as we were after (easier said than done).

We were working to a tight budget and the loft part came in pretty much on budget. The main extras were unavoidable repairs to our house that were genuinely unforseeable on the builders part.

Marven is very hands on and is always available, always responds to phone calls and on site often (he has a couple of teams) overseeing and making sure it is being done as he wanted it, re-doing even in some circumstances where he was not happy with it!

I would like to add to the list of recommendations for Marvin. I got him in to do my loft conversion last year and replace the front and rear roofs. As I suspected, because it was an old house and in need of repair, it turned into a much bigger job which Marvin did very well and at a reasonable cost. Front chimney replaced, rear chimney repaired, roof party wall repaired, loose/ missing bricks repaired, cracks in party wall fixed, flank of house repointed, house rewired and new lighting, insulation fitted, ensuite bathroom fitted, new sash windows throughout - quite a long list! There was no doubt that the work needed doing and I trusted Marvin's advice which was backed up by a surveyor's report. I got a couple of other quotes for some of the work, including from a neighbour's builders (who had scaffolding up at the same time) and Marvin's quotes were always reasonable. Judging by the work done on neighbours house, the quality of his work was much better. It all took a long time, and if you want a quick bodge job, Marvin's not your man. But if you want it done properly at a reasonable price (not necessarily the cheapest) and someone you can trust, give him a call. He was also very quick coming round to fix a small leak in the flat roof and adjust the new windows.

    • The 2 ways I checked (and I'm open to correction on this - I could be wrong) 1 - the  breakdown by county  https://petitionmap.unboxedconsulting.com/?petition=700143 doesn't appear to match the headline number in any close way   2 = The petition data link https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/700143.json seems to have a suspiciously high number of non UK entries   (although this ABOUT section may be relevant as well The data shows the number of people who have signed the petition by country as well as in the constituency of each Member of Parliament. This data is available for all petitions on the site. It is not a list of people who have signed the petition. The only name that is shared on the site is that of the petition creator.)     can someone else try because I'm done with this guy
    • I had to look it up but 4.1 million people signed a petition for second brexit referendum if there was a narrow margin.  The data is from 2017 so there may be bigger petitions since.   https://www.itv.com/news/2017-01-31/petitions-what-are-the-10-most-signed-and-what-have-they-achieved
    • Sephiroth, obviously you must be having difficulty translating the meaning of the words below, These clauses remain law today, and provided the basis for important principles in English law developed in the fourteenth through to the seventeenth century, and which were exported to America and other English-speaking countries. Their phrasing, ‘to no one' and ‘no free man' gave these provisions a universal quality that is still applicable today in a way that many of the clauses relating specifically to feudal custom are not Never mind, keep on ignoring the facts  The only one here burying their head in the sand seems to be you, with your total unwillingness to accept what a disaster Liebour have turned out to be after 120 days in Office, making themselves a one term Govt. Bet you think the sun shines out of his backside. Because whenever an election happens they will NEVER EVER be trusted ever again or ever get back into Govt for many, many years after the dictatorship we have been placed under.  Reeves was giving a speech at the CBI earlier today, bet that went well for her, NOT.
    • Sephiroth, where is the data for non-UK people? Thanks
