pclancey
Does anyone know what's happening with The Grove Tavern on the corner of Lordship lane and the A205? There is a new fence around the building. ๐คทโโ๏ธ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/346721-the-grove-tavern/ Share on other sites
Patatina
I'm guessing it's to stop break ins. There was a dog patrol van present for a couple of months prior to this new fence going up. We can only hope it's a sign that something will finally happen with the building. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/346721-the-grove-tavern/#findComment-1670133 Share on other sites

Glemham
According to an article in Southwark News in 2017 the lease will be up next year, 2025. Meanwhile the leaseholder, Stonegate Pubs is looking at re-finanacing a debt of ยฃ2.3 billion in July of this year. The Dulwich Estate which owns the building is very secretive about any plans whilst pocketing an alleged ยฃ100,000 every year from Stonegate (which is owned by a hedge fund registered in the Cayman Islands). The building is on the Dulwich Wood Conservation Area. Southwark Council are responsible for protecting the site and have powers to make owners renovate dilapidated property. So since The Grove closed 10 or so years ago and started to slide into the disgraceful sight it is now, neither the Estate nor Southwark seem to have been able /willing to effect any change. 1 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/346721-the-grove-tavern/#findComment-1671085 Share on other sites

CPR Dave
They should turn into a hostel for homeless people or asylum seekers. jazzer
Or return it to a restaurant pub or even better would be a Superb site and Location for our very own, yes, you guessed it, smack in between Forest Hill and East Dulwich and North Dulwich and West Dulwich and Herne Hill and Tulse Hill, yes our very , very own, no not a diy store but you guessed it, I'm sure you all want a brand spanking shinny new Lidl. I know the idea may upset a minority but the just consider all the benefits it will bring and the majority would be ecstatic to have a low budget supermarket in our locality.
