pclancey
Does anyone know what's happening with The Grove Tavern on the corner of Lordship lane and the A205? There is a new fence around the building. đ¤ˇââď¸
Patatina
I'm guessing it's to stop break ins. There was a dog patrol van present for a couple of months prior to this new fence going up. We can only hope it's a sign that something will finally happen with the building.
alice
Someone may be able to remind us when the pubs lease is up with Dulwich Estates.
Glemham
According to an article in Southwark News in 2017 the lease will be up next year, 2025. Meanwhile the leaseholder, Stonegate Pubs is looking at re-finanacing a debt of £2.3 billion in July of this year. The Dulwich Estate which owns the building is very secretive about any plans whilst pocketing an alleged £100,000 every year from Stonegate (which is owned by a hedge fund registered in the Cayman Islands). The building is on the Dulwich Wood Conservation Area. Southwark Council are responsible for protecting the site and have powers to make owners renovate dilapidated property. So since The Grove closed 10 or so years ago and started to slide into the disgraceful sight it is now, neither the Estate nor Southwark seem to have been able /willing to effect any change.  1

CPR Dave Posted Friday at 19:52 Share Posted Friday at 19:52 They should turn into a hostel for homeless people or asylum seekers. You could fit good quality accommodation on that site for four or five hundred refugees.

jazzer Posted Friday at 23:22 Share Posted Friday at 23:22 Or return it to a restaurant pub or even better would be a Superb site and Location for our very own, yes, you guessed it, smack in between Forest Hill and East Dulwich and North Dulwich and West Dulwich and Herne Hill and Tulse Hill, yes our very , very own, no not a diy store but you guessed it, I'm sure you all want a brand spanking shinny new Lidl. I know the idea may upset a minority but the just consider all the benefits it will bring and the majority would be ecstatic to have a low budget supermarket in our locality.

Is the one in Sydenham bigger? I can't remember. Sorry admin, off topic. As you were! Edited Sunday at 11:43 by Sue

Azalea Posted Sunday at 13:52 Share Posted Sunday at 13:52 Itâs a shame that the Aldi in Old Kent Road disappeared a few years ago. Â I thought it was supposed to be rebuilt alongside some new flats.
Jojo65 Posted Sunday at 15:25 Share Posted Sunday at 15:25 Yes, theyâre still building 168 new flats , the project to be completed by 2025đ¤đźThe scheme will create a new Aldi store, 168 new homes including 36 per cent affordable housing. Pugwash Posted Sunday at 17:06 Share Posted Sunday at 17:06 A Premier Inn or Travel Lodge would be ideal. There was a big write up in last week's Southwark News. Dulwich Estates are refusing to answer questions.
