Recommendation for garden labourer - Fernando Pinto

I've been looking for a gardener to come on a weekly basis to get my garden in order and then help maintain it. With it not being a landscaping job it took me a while to find someone suitable but Fernando came today and did a great job, using his initiative to do a few extra things as well as the grass cutting etc I had asked him to do. He will be back next week!

I too have been looking for a gardener for a while and came across this thread. Fernando spent most of Saturday helping me landscape and clear turf from our back garden. He was extremely friendly throughout, arrived early, worked really hard, stayed until the job was done and was a pleasure to deal with all round. Will definitely be asking Fernando back to help with other work and would have no hesitation recommending him to the forum.

Great guy and brilliant service. Thanks Fernando.

I also recommend Fernando, he came today to sort out our garden and did a fantastic job (including extra stuff). He worked really hard, he's very polite, extremely clean and a pleasure to deal with. I will definitely be calling him back to help us again.

Fernando came round again to sort the hedges out. He worked hard for nearly 5 hours getting our front garden neat and tidy.

Great guy, very easy to have around, extremely polite, came on time, quick to respond to requests, and very reasonable rates. He did a grand job!

Fernando came to tend to our massively overgrown and neglected garden this week. He has done a fantastic job, it looks like a completely new garden and is now ready for the summer. Fernando is very amenable, punctual and his service is very reasonable. I will definitely be using him again and would thoroughly recommend him.

Further recommendation for Fernando. He came by again to help with the garden that he saved from disrepair in February. Looking forward to calling him again as soon as I've made a trip to the garden centre for supplies! Thank you, Fernando! Always a pleasure!

Fernando spent hours today clearing weeds. It was a job we'd been putting off for ages because we knew it would be really hard work, so we're chuffed it's been done - and really well too. I'd highly recommend Fernando and I'm sure we'll be calling on him again in the future.

Thanks to all who recommended Fernando! We read the recommendations and called Fernando. He came over and transformed our neglected jungle to a lovely garden ready for the summer. We love it, kids love it, and our neighbours too.

Fernando is friendly, reliable and takes pride in his work maintaining a very high standard. Nothing is any trouble to him. On top of that, he is very neat and tidy. Highly highly recommended. We've booked him to visit us regularly.

To add to the list of recommendations, we contacted Fernando on the basis of this thread. He spent 9 hours on Wednesday clearing our very overgrown front garden and did a great job at a very reasonable price. We've already asked him back to do our back garden.

We have a large garden that needs constant attention, and my wife and I have neither the energy or time to do it ourselves. Having tried several gardeners over the last few years (all of whom were expensive, unreliable and generally useless) we were getting to the point of not knowing what to do next. Enter Fernando, thanks to the ED Forum.

Fernando is hard working, conscientious and sympathetic to our requirements. He is thoughtful and very friendly.

He has really put his back into everything we have asked him to do, nothing is too much trouble, and he even puts up with our 2 young boys bothering him while trying to work.

I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Fernando visited my home yesterday and did a fantastic job transforming my overgrown hedges and weeding. They look the best I have ever seen them! Fernando is a very nice man who is both personable and trustworthy. I will be asking for his help again in the future. Regards, Clare

Here I am with another big thumbs up for Fernando! He came to my rescue when I was trying to tidy up our back garden in preparation of a big family gathering. I had almost lost hope after receiving absurdly high quotes from other highly recommended gardeners/handyman on the forum, none of whom had a degree in horticultural studies and yet they all quoted higher than qualified specialists. One even refused to come and see the garden unless I agreed upfront on a ?20 per hour per person for a minimum of two people team, making it ?40/hour minimum charge, too high price to ask per hour in my opinion no matter how efficient the team might be, you might end up easily with a ?300 bill at the end of the day.

Fernando was amazing! He booked an appointment a fortnight beforehand to view the job, he was on time, listened to my needs and then came back when we arranged at a very early hour in the morning to fit in with my own schedule. He worked really hard, almost non-stop for nine hours, part of them side by side with me, helping me moving and cleaning garden furniture (he did not mind even when I accidentally sprayed him with water) as well as weeding and sweeping up the large patio he tackled the vegetable plot which had been a jungle of weeds for months! I can honestly say he is a hard working man and gets a lot done in the hours he works, he is very polite with an attention for beauty and detail and very caring: he did not let me lift anything heavy and came to my aid whenever I was trying something too challenging for my back.

I have already booked him in for another couple of sessions in the coming months, he is worth every penny and he is very pleasant to have around.

BY THE WAY ALL MY GUESTS WERE VERY IMPRESSED BY HOW TIDY AND NICE MY GARDEN LOOKED!

Thank you Fernando!

Another pleased customer of Fernando's here. Fernando came today to tidy up my front and back gardens including the moving of some very heavy paving slabs and a huge amount of gravel. He was personable, easy to contact and extremely hard-working in today's hot weather. He was also absolutely lovely to my 21 month old daughter who was very quickly very comfortable around him and babbled happily away to him about the plants and flowers! I've booked him for a return visit later this month as I am so happy with his work and reasonable rates. Thanks, Fernando!

I would like to add my recommendation to this impressive list of recommendations! Fernando has transformed our mini jungle front and back gardens into neat and tidy gardens. We are delighted with the transformation. It is actually a pleasure to look at the garden again. Fernando is a professional dedicated gardener, always polite, punctual and reasonable charges too! Fernando has done our garden before and he will be the one we ring when we need help again. Thanks Fernando

Fernando came back again today to finish the job he started earlier this month and once again was polite, professional and extremely hard working. We'll definitely be calling him in the future whenever we need some more work doing.

Another big thumbs up for Fernando who has spent the last couple of days helping to transform my very over grown garden into a great blank canvas ready for replanting.

Fernando works extremely hard and is extremely conscientious and polite. He worked tirelessly in scorching weather this week. He was a pleasure to have working with me on my garden. His rates are very competitive and am very happy to recommend him to anyone looking for help with their garden.

Fernando first did some gardening for me in July and I was so impressed that I arranged for him to return today to do some more. I was not disappointed. The work Fernando did today was just as good as the first time he came round. I really recommend Fernando! Clare

    • The plans The developer Berkeley Homes have submitted a planning application to redevelop the Aylesham Centre close to the junction of Peckham High Street and Rye Lane, containing Morrison’s supermarket, car park, & petrol station, Aylesham shopping arcade and most of that side of Rye Lane between Hanover Park and Peckham High Street. The application is for a mixed housing, retail, leisure and commercial development, in buildings ranging from 5 to 20 storeys. Impact Local people who have studied the detailed plans think that the development would dominate the historic town centre which has evolved since the 18th century, and would ruin the Conservation Area which was awarded in 2011 'to preserve and enhance its character and appearance'. More than 65% of the homes to be built in this unimaginative over-bearing development will be unaffordable by most people who live in Southwark, and provide inadequate open and green space for this part of Peckham. Need for discussion This is such an important issue for south London that it needs wide discussion before the Council Planning Committee takes its decision (not before next Spring). A free on-line talk and discussion to clarify the heritage issues we all need to think about is being held on Monday 11th November 7-8.30pm. All will be welcome. Please register on this link: https://Defend-Peckhams-Heritage-2024.eventbrite.co.uk There are several other key issues raised by the plans which are being examined in the Aylesham Community Action (ACA) campaign. You can find the link to all that and other useful information here: www.linktr.ee/acapeckham The zoom session is being arranged by Peckham Heritage the local group that has grown from the community work alongside the restoration of nine historic buildings in Peckham High Street through the Townscape Heritage Initiative. We hope that EDF members who value local heritage will be able to attend the session to hear and take part in the discussion, and report back to this topic so the discussion can continue.
