I agree with the OP this is an independent restaurant that deserves support. You’ll need to be quick to visit before their summer holidays. In true Italian style they are on holiday from 29 July to 29 August.

I’m reluctant to put this on here but I can only think people haven’t tried it as it’s not busier.

We went before it changed hands from  500 degrees to Due Fratelli. For us it’s now the best pizza in East Dulwich. There are other things on the menu too. There’s also a “garden” at the back. Outdoor seating away from the road. Pizza and a beer for 2 for £40. Staff are always friendly and happy to add toppings to the pizzas.

Give it a try - it’s not a chain and to those who say East Dulwich has enough places that do pizza I’d say it’s the best of the restaurants, they do take away if that’s what you want though we’ve not seen any delivery drivers doing a collection.

Always happy to support local businesses, we had booked a table for 4 people at Dei Due Fratelli restaurant, Lordship Lane on a Saturday evening. While the food was nice and the staff were initially attentive and accommodating, this soon changed after the arrival of a second group of 10 - most of them visibly intoxicated and extremely loud (in addition to another group of 10 diners already present). The staff switched on their karaoke screen placed directly above our table without any consultation or warning. Due to the level of intoxication among many diners in the second large group, the atmosphere soon felt unsafe, fuelled by the restaurant staff continuing to serve further alcohol to them. Needless to say, this made any conversation impossible and spoiled the enjoyment of our meal and evening out. When approached for a reduction of the final bill, the staff were extremely reluctant but  eventually relented after much persuasion. Take away: The staff seem more concerned with making money from large groups of diners to the detriment of smaller groups, their wellbeing and enjoyment, blatantly ignoring health and safety aspects. We will not return.

Sorry to hear that acycle, it's a small place and big group could easily make it loud for sure.

I've been there 4-5 times in the last year and really like it.  It's a great, better-value alternative to Rocca and Olivelli (I enjoy both of those too).

The owners are proper italian so if you're just back from there on holiday and want to add something that you enjoyed it's not too much trouble for them to assist.

The front of house lady is great with kids, I have no reservations to heartily recommend the food.  We've also had the steak which they did a great job on as they have a proper charcoal grill in the kitchen in addition to the pizza over from it's previous iteration.

Re: the karaoke, I asked them to turn it down once and they did.

Please support folks by giving it a try, don't be shy to give them feedback on the window display or whatever, it would only help them.

    • Labour was right not to increase fuel duty - it's not just motorists it affects, but goods transport. Fuel goes up, inflation goes up. Inflation will go up now anyway, and growth will stagnate, because businesses will pass the employee NIC hikes onto customers.  I think farms should be exempt from the 20% IHT. I don't know any rich famers, only ones who work their fingers to the bone. But it's in their blood and taking that, often multi-generation, legacy out of the family is heart-breaking. Many work to such low yields, and yet they'll often still bring a lamb to the vet, even if the fees are more than the lamb's life (or death) is worth. Food security should be made a top priority in this country. And, even tho the tax is only for farms over £1m, that's probably not much when you add it all up. I think every incentive should be given to young people who want to take up the mantle.
