wreth_01
Hi everyone, Moving to East Dulwich (SE22) from Melbourne, Australia; I've never actually been to the area (husband has) so the only thing i've got to go on is google street view, instagram and a few rogue tiktoks. Looks great though and excited for the move. Any cycling clubs that can be recommended or group rides? I'm thinking Peckham Cycle Club but wondering if there are any others in the area to consider; and secondly, any fenced dog parks / good spots to take our 2x dogs. Cheers! malumbu
Friend recommends Penge Cycle Club. Southwark Cyclists usually do two social cycle rides on Saturday, you don't need to be a member (London Cycling Campaign) but recommended. They are advertised on the What's On section of EDF. And you can go on their other Borough group rides, Lewisham Cyclists often do long rides. Generally very cycle friendly around here, despite occasional on line hostility. Earl Aelfheah
If you're a 'serious' cyclist, Dulwich paragon seem to be the main cycling club. There are also events at the Herne Hill Velodrome nearby Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/344613-cycling-clubs-group-rides-and-dog-parks/#findComment-1665193 Share on other sites
Froglander
There aren’t specific dog parks here, but there are parks for everyone that are fenced. Dulwich Park has certain areas where dogs can be let off lead, as does Peckham Rye and Brockwell Park. There are a lot of parks in general in SE London. malumbu
Penge are also a serious cycling club but seems more laid back than Dulwich Paragon. I was waiting for someone from Dulwich Paragon to post as I can be a little mean 😊 Velodrome is most excellent and and well as track cycling there is mountain biking and cyclocross. PM me if you want an informal group who regularly go out into Surrey and Kent on mountain bikes. pbg212
Re dogs: Goose Green is fully fenced - plenty of dogs. While Peckham Rye isn't fully fenced, it is very large - so if your dogs like to run, but will come back when called they can get a lot of runaround there (again plenty of dogs), and as a Melbournite - you can barrack for the SE London Giants aussie rules team there too. As an aussie now in ED a few years, love the area.
