When I was in Northern Burma many years ago, hill tribe children had a peculiar game they played with butterflies.

Catch one, tie a thread of cotton around it's thorax so it's effectively on a lead, then pull it's legs off and watch it wizz round and round until it's exhausted and simply just hangs from the thread.

Then they'd drop it and stamp it into the mud.
