Recommendation for a Carpenter (already rated on edf)

He's been mentioned on this forum - Nerris bucius on 07875 046753 - and has recently built two large cupboards and floating shelves around a chimney breast. I'd like to add my name to those who recommend him,

I've used this site to get quotes from various tradespeople as well as the website of the federation of master builders. I got five quotes for my carpentry work all of them through recommendations on edf.

nerris stands out for the following reasons:

- he answers his phone, replies to voicemails and texts promptly

- he turns up when he says he will (& when u are waiting in the house with a baby, this really matters)

- he provides a detailed quote broken down by labour costs and materials (btw, I'm still waiting for a quote for some other work from an fmb rated bromley based big builder since APRIL. Even the office lady is becoming a bit embarrassed. ..)

- he is keen to work and quotes just as promptly for further work. (I wish the bromley builder would just be honest and tell me the work is not their bag, instead of spending an hour measuring things...If any tradespeople are reading this, why don't you ask more questions before saying yes to coming out and providing a quote? Surely it's a massive opportunity cost to you guys?)

- he wants payment at end of the job.

- he's competitively priced

- motivated and quick (stops for glasses of water only!)

- does a good job, a really good job

Another recommendation for Nerris, he fixed my French doors for me over the weekend. Very reliable, turned up on time (early on Saturday morning), even phoned me to check that the price of the new locks he was picking up were OK with me. And he did a very neat job.

I would also like to recommend Nerris. A realy friendly guy who's standard of work is unquestionable.

He has just layed loft boards down in my loft aswell as adding extra support to the water tank up there.

First name I will consider next time I need a carpenter. Would also put his name forward to family and friends!

I used Nerris to fit my kitchen but would definitely NOT recommend him. He rushed the job and left us with kitchen cupboards that were uneven on one side. He blamed this on old Victorian kitchen walls but having spoken to various other kitchen suppliers and installers since, this was just an excuse.

He may be fine to make a cupboard but I wouldn't trust him for anything more complex.

    • Malumbu, you were saying to posters on here "well where else will the money come from" and this highlights one of the major challenges for Labour. Take the very issue being discussed on health related benefit claims. When you look at the data on what has been happening it really shows what a problem it has become but, of course, a Labour government can't possibly attack that area in the same way they go after others - it's easy for Labour to attack the perceptual cruise-going pensioners, toffs at private school and (with less effectiveness) rich land owning farmers. Liz Kendall was on Laura K on Sunday and you could tell talking about the issue (which the government clearly have to deal with) was really difficult because what they are going to have to do is very un-Labour because the situation is out of control and they have to get on top of it.
    • and were people like you worried about "cutting hiring, prices going up and new business not starting" under the last govt or as a result of brexit I don't have labour blinkers - I didn't even vote labour at the election.  But do take a look at the data for that petition - and see how many actually come from UK
    • Take your labour blinkers off sir, Businesses are cutting hiring, prices will go up and new businesses won't start all as a result in the NI hike for employers  Talking down the country pre budget also knocked consumer confidence  Tomorrow labour are goung to announce getting young people into education or employment, yet with the above where will those jobs come from ?  The three people who sent the pertition to me are all small business owners who are taking the brunt of the changes introduced in the budget, one is even talking about closing as it impacts margins so heavily.  This is why people are unhappy. Labour hog tied themselves by promising no tax rises on working people and now the economy is suffering.  Take the red pill sir, not the blue one.
    • Highly recommend Brendan and Tony at No-Flies. They are professional, friendly and always keep you informed of what’s going on with the sale of your house.
