Do you think there should be a ban on eating on public transport, similar to restrictions on drinking alcohol in some places, fried chicken consumption is very popular on buses in SE London  It's quite unpleasant and inconsiderate to consume fast food in such confined spaces.

I thought there already was?

Admittedly I am not a fan of eating on public transport, but admit to eating the odd sandwich on the bus when I was working. I was not always office based and some days would be travelling by bus various places in Southwark (which did not have car parking) so ate between visits on the bus.

Yeah, ok. Race to the bottom and victim blame at the same time.
Public transit is a public space. Neutral behaviour should apply. Stink your own house out as much as you like but have the respect and decency to abstain from scoffing smelly scran for the short time you’re on the bus. Especially if you’re travelling free (ie. on the back of taxpayers and fare payers).

Hmm, how easy would this be to enforce.  As a society we now acknowledge that it is not appropriate to smoke in public areas, and booze can be considered similarly.  Saying that we cannot eat sounds rather draconian.  I think that it is again down to society, at the moment we are encouraged by our fast food industry to buy takeaway food which due to high salt content and other flavourings, texture and the your peer group and be addictive.  Chicken shops are often found near schools.  Government plays lip service.  It would be wonderful if demand plummeted.  Can't see that happens.

Smell, noise etc is subjective.  Popcorn in cinemas?  I'm much more annoyed by people listening to videos whilst on the bus/train etc, or having phone conversations using the speaker on their phone.  Why oh why am I interested in your conversation and the tiny voice at the other end?  And thanks to the person who left the flaky pastry on the tube on Saturday I sat on.

Same here. I know that advertising junk food on London's transport network was restricted a couple of years ago, but I can't remember what happened to the signs advising passengers to refrain from eating smelly food. Did I dream them up?

    • As we know Love Dulwich is now a Turkish meze grill restaurant and today they have started their lunch time special. A choice of a cold or hot starter (4 of each to choose from), plus a main meal (4 the choose from including a veggie meal) £15. I had hummus with the softest, warm bread to dip in it (you can ask for more bread) and then chicken shesh, 3 types of salad (onion & sumac, red cabbage & traditional leaf), bulgar - huge portions.   The food was tasty and delicious. Chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy and full of flavour, salad was fresh and the bulgar was cooked perfectly.  If you didn’t want the lunch special they also had the main menu which was small but with some amazing meal, chicken, veggie & fish options.  We really enjoyed it and will be back to sample the evening menu as well.
    • Nikolay's work was recommended by several forum users in here, and we decided to go with his services after getting his quote: it was well priced, with the cost of each component clearly broken down. We recently purchased a Victorian conversion in Catford which had alot of damaged floorboards (old, but also damaged from badly done DIY repairs) which needed replacing, and a 4 x 4m bedroom which needed all new floorboards installed as previous owners removed all original boards to install cheap chipboard floors covered with padding and carpets. Nikolay and his team removed the chipboards, and built the floor in 2–3 days from reclaimed boards, alongside doing alot of replacements and repairs to a lounge and dining room. When the quote was to go up due to more repairs being needed (we asked for it) Nikolay communicated the changes, and gave us an updated quote quickly so we could update our budget for it. They were very communicative and gave frequent text and photo progress updates when we could not be there which put us at ease. The whole job was efficiently completed in 6 working days including sanding and staining all the floors. The job was completed to a high standard, and the results were incredible. I still have 1 more bedroom which needs restoring, and I have every intention to go back to Nikolay again for his services.
