Am off to East Dulwich today, looking at 1 bed properties, anyone live near Deventer Crescent, Underhill Road, Derwent Grove or Grove Vale? Are these all quite central to the hustle and bustle of life in ED?, I don't want to live too far away from where all the life is in some really quiet part of ED, are they near Lordship Lane where all the shops are? Many thanks for any help, that or I could wait until I get there and have a good look around myself, :-$

Underhill Road - depends how far up the property is, as it's a really long road. The lower end is really close to LL and all it has to offer, but the further up you go the longer the walk. Grove Vale is where ED station is, so very close to the action, but could potentially be quite noisy as there's a lot of traffic along that stretch. Not sure on the other roads.

Have fun looking!

Came to visit, liked the area quite vibrant and I was more impressed than I expected to be, Grove Vale quite close to BR and good for getting to work from, am making a few appointments to come down and actually view inside some of the properties I looked at over the weekend, sometimes, if you're lucky you can get to view without an appointment or going through the estate agents, what I used to do was look very obviously at the outside of the property, knock on the door and and ask could I borrow a pen as I wanted to write the estate agent's number down for this property so I could make an appointment to view, you'd be quite surprised, quite a few people say well if its just a quick look you want, come on in! Though come to think of it this is not a sensible thing to do, but as a lone woman you appear less threatening, but obviously if a man answers the door and there is no sign of another female in the property then I give it a miss and say I'll go via the estate agents, not ideal I know and it could be potentially dangerous, but does save time sometimes especially when it is hard to get time off work to go view properly!

    • Yes, registered and now marked as stolen on Bike Register. Thanks for saying about gumtree. Had forgotten about that, scouring Facebook and eBay currently.
    • I hope you had it marked on the bike register.  Many stolen bikes end up on Gumtree (mine did) so check listings. https://www.gumtree.com/for-sale/sports-leisure-travel/bicycles/uk/srpsearch+condor  if the listings is a copy and paste from the bike company website that is almost definitely stolen, or details are scant.  When they talk about how long they had the bike, the sort of journeys, what they have done to maintain and improve it etc they will be genuine. I've got no advice on how to do a sting and get it back,
    • If everybody boycotted the DKH Sainsbury's, no doubt the heating would quickly be either turned up or fixed 🤬 Any journalists on here who would like to publicise it in the local press?
    • Aria stopped a water leak in our toilet and then replaced it quickly and efficiently just before Christmas. This is the second job he’s done for us and we’re very happy with both. I can recommend Aria to anyone needing a plumber.
