Has anyone else heard a strange animal call over the past few nights, near the junction of Colyton & Dovedale? Very distinct, four or five throaty chirps every few minutes, almost sounds tropical. First thoughts were a pheasant or some type of owl, could possibly be foxes but haven't ever heard them make a sound like this before. Very odd...

I've managed to edit a video I took the other night to isolate the calls - any ideas anyone?

(Yes I know I should've used an audio recorder but I didn't have one on my phone and didn't want to miss it!)

Following some investigative research aka Google searches, disappointingly it would appear to be just foxes, not some rare owl 🙁

Although I'm still mystified as to why I've never heard this call before, having lived in the same flat for nearly 20 years and constantly having had foxes & cubs in the garden throughout that time...

Oh well, mystery solved!

a couple of years ago i was woken up on more than one night by what i can only describe as a robot groaning.

or a person sighing through a vocoder. coming from the garden or somewhere close.

freaked me the hell out.

Dog fox, vixen does the screaming. Wonderful ED wildlife comes up to my 1st floor balcony to eat their takeaways then shit in as many places as possible and scent mark anything vertical, even the front door. Just spent an hour scrubbing as the smell has infiltrated the flat. Bearing in mind my brain is bigger than theirs, I should be able to solve this problem.

    • Been with ID for years and thank you I do know how to access wi fi - and don’t have the problems I have been experiencing recently.  Even asked a young person today on the train and they could not understand it either. No problem with my android phone at all - Well not to this level. As an example, would not connect ie my iPhone at Waterloo Station today - had various staff members try - result had to pay for a return ticket on top of what I had already paid out!!   Sat in a Curry store, about 10 days ago and refused to move until they had sorted out the fact that ID had locked me out of the system. Did get it all sorted out and running via help from ID - they are an online company but Curry’s have, let’s call it a “hot line” to them. I have found a number as well on line - who knows if it works or not - I am classified as a vulnerable person, hate to have to use it as a way of getting a result. No joy what so ever at the Apple Shop - couldn’t even get them to book an apt for me at their tech team for the same day - was prepared to wait a couple of hours but no, come back following day at blah time and noI did not use my disability to get more help. Bus is fine, outside is patchy but so be it - just have to find a good spot, can connected to all free wi fi in Malls and pubs, cafe etc. Please give me the name of a reputable phone shop, if you have one. You seem to be having difficulties as well with your laptop/ computer etc My phone is only 2 /3 years old.. Thanks for your comments and replying.
    • Have you talked to iD? I've been with them for ages and have never had any problems. They run  on 3's network. But the WiFi isn't anything to do with your phone call provider, is it? Have you tried asking  a (reputable) phone shop which isn't just Apple? How old is the iPhone? Not being funny, but if it's just train WiFi you have issues with, are you sure you are going through the correct process to connect with it on your phone? I use the Oxford Tube (aka bus) WiFi quite a lot, and it can be confusing, plus they actually say that the connection may sometimes be iffy,  depending on circumstances. That is down to their WiFi, not your phone. Could the same be happening on the trains?
    • Hi, Over the last few months, even though i phone is up to date with security, I am having several problems. The most frustrating  is going on long journeys by train and just not connecting or at best very patchy with free Wi-Fi - as on train. Apps especially train line just not connecting at all but strangely iPad works well. Been to Apple Shops - no help at all. Switched it off waited and switched on again - nothing..! Beginning to drive me abit insane and certain,y very grumpy! I am with id mobile and have been with them for years. In despair bought an android phone and pay as you go with EE to test out before taking a contract - certainly much better all round but all my stuff is on iPhone and really don’t need to  take two phones out & about with me. Are folk happy with EE? I won’t go near Virgin or Sky - had bad experience with both. Do I need to add extra security to iPhone? Thought they were “King” of that side.  Something must be overlooked by me as aside from above seem to have regular scams a well  Can I take it somewhere reliable for someone to check my settings? Done all that and still having problems. All helpful suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks.
