Sue
Thanks, hadn't realised it was only one stop from St P to Cally Road, don't know how long it would take me to get to Herne Hill tho (Is the 37 a reasonable service in the mornings?)I live just off North Cross Road. Usually travel by bus and usually via E&C !! I think I'll have to try every option and see which is the best overall. My bike is still on a farm in Herefordshire where I once lived - I think the farmers have probably appropriated it,and anyway if you saw me on it you would realise why I am never never never going to cycle in London (danger to self and others :)) ) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3395-live-in-east-dulwich-and-work-in/page/4/#findComment-107016 Share on other sites

Sue
Oh well, I've just halved my previous salary for a longer commute, but hey, it's about quality of life, innit. May change my mind after a few weeks of trekking up to Islington though :)) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3395-live-in-east-dulwich-and-work-in/page/4/#findComment-107027 Share on other sites
Bellenden Belle
So I've ended up in Highbury... an hour and a quarter... train to London Bridge, tube to Kings Cross, tube to Arsenal, ten minutes walk.Mmmmm, I worked in Hackney for two years prior to that and that was equally torturous .... I am seriously contemplating whether I should rent for a year North of the river.... though it would break my heart to leave ED - Arsenal Angel just doesn't suit me the way Bellenden Belle does. marge
honk...That's v. good. Thinking of doing this commute by bike myself - what time of day do you go and are you fearless - for it to take 30 mins or could anyone do it? SeanMacGabhann
jobby - I'd be inclined to get the 185 to Victoria and get the district from there, At that hour of the dayI reckon it should take about 1 - 1:15But you've probably tried that route and found it wanting so I'll shush Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3395-live-in-east-dulwich-and-work-in/page/4/#findComment-109299 Share on other sites
Browncoffee
Work in Canary Wharf....Usually catch the P4 on Honor Oak Park Road to Lewisham and then get DLR to CW. Door to door takes about an hour....with 20 mins of it usually spent waiting for the P4:X Still prefer that to getting the Tube from London Bridge as journey is generally less stressful. Can't stand being squashed on tube! I used to drive in for the occasional 6:30 start, and that would take about 25-30 mins. I've no idea how you could do it in 25 mins at any more civilised hour. jumpinjackflash
I agree Jeremy - London Bridge to Can Wharf takes about 10/15 mins on tube and I much prefer working in Can Wharf than the west end. I like you, have a 6:30 start so at least it's quiet (ish) when I board the train. Jeremy
No no, I start work at 9ish... the 6:30 start was only once every few weeks, and I don't do it any more... thank god! fearnpw1
White City - have done the commute for 15 years now (although used to live in Lewisham). Fortunately I now get parking tickets at work so I can experience traffic hell instead of public transport hell! And my 2 year old can accompany me to my workplace nursery - may as well initiate her to commuting early in life!! cdonline
Live on the edge of the Rye and work in Vauxhall, home to mongey Gay clubbers everywhere.Try to walk to work most days, up over the hill and down Camberwell Grove and along the main road. A relaxing walk. Unless I'm hungover, when I retreat to the bendy cattle-truck. williba0
Aldwych - a 30 min door to door cycle. Reasonably quiet roads too, and there's a good cycle route around the Elephant so you can avoid running the gauntlet with buses etc. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3395-live-in-east-dulwich-and-work-in/page/4/#findComment-109432 Share on other sites
danrees
London Bridge (More London on Tooley Street). Usually cycle in 20 to 25 minutes from SE22, if not 8.15 or 8.35 train. Wish there was an 8.25! jocelyn
Holborn - Live on Marmora Road and can get to my office off Kingsway by bike in about 35mins. Beats the 63 anyday. kristymac1
Marylebone8.15 from ED to London Bridge, then Jubilee line to Bond street.at least an hour which is pretty crappy and at that time the train and tube are fairly horrible. Any suggestions for alternative routes much appreciated. I've only just started new job and I'm restricted to leaving around 8ish due to childcare arrangements. Oh and I don't cycle.
