I am an experienced English teacher and tutor at a local school (Harris Girls East Dulwich) with a strong track record of helping GCSE students achieve way beyond their targets whilst enjoying the subject. In last year's GCSE examinations, my students achieved an average progress 8 score of over 3 in both English literature and language.

Do get in touch if you would like to discuss in-person English GCSE tutoring through term time/holidays in 2024. I am based in Nunhead and can tutor anywhere I can cycle to!

I'm experienced in teaching a range of texts on the AQA GCSE English literature and language syllabus, including Macbeth (Shakespeare), Jekyll & Hyde (19th century novel), Leave Taking/Lord of the Flies (modern novel), and both the Love & relationships and Power & Conflict poetry anthologies.

Unfortunately, due to conflict of interest, I am unable to tutor students I am currently teaching at Harris Girls Academy East Dulwich. If you are interested, feel free to drop me an email at: [email protected]

    • Many moons ago, ED  forum members used to meet up on a regular basis (I think monthly) in a different local.pub each time to get to know each other and to have a chat over a drink. To help people like me who are rubbish at remembering names and faces, labels were provided! A space was reserved in the pub each time. If anyone would be interested in this (or else thinks it's a very bad idea!) , please either post on here or PM me. The ED demographic has greatly changed, and many of those original forum members have moved out of the area, so possibly this may no longer work for various reasons. My partner Nygel and I are happy to arrange the first one, but hopefully other people might step up to help after that, as we couldn't undertake to arrange them all on a regular basis, though we are  happy to take turns.
    • Just wanted to remind everyone of this facility.  It is in the Leisure Centre foyer and so accessible during the normal opening hours.  I've just used the SDS drill (which comes with drill and chisel bits and eye & ear protection) for under a tenner for a day.  Equipment was in very good nick and process was more easier and more convenient that traditional hire shop. https://libraryofthings.co.uk/
    • I would have asked, but I forgot! Just checked, and not only is today's jab not on there, which perhaps isn't surprising, but nor is last year's 😮
    • The sticker I was given at Kristal in December said Pfizer/Cominarty.  I see it now comes in ten-packs of preloaded syringes, and though initially stored ultra-cold, can now be delivered and stored for up to ten weeks at 2-8 degrees C, and then kept at 8-25 degrees for no more than twelve hours.
