I'm delighted to report that following the latest Ofsted inspection which took place last month, St Francesca Cabrini been rated as GOOD in all areas.

Well done to the Head, Teachers, Governors and pupils.

Renata

From the Ofsted website:

Summary of key findings for parents and pupils

This is a good school.

?? Current standards at the end of Year 6 are average, which represents good progress.

?? Children in the Nursery and Reception classes learn well and develop strong social skills.

?? Reading is a strength of the school. Improvements in the teaching of reading mean pupils make good progress and they enjoy reading a range of texts.

?? Pupils have good attitudes to learning and are polite and courteous to each other and adults. Their behaviour in lessons and around the school is good. They say they feel safe.

?? The curriculum offers a good range of clubs and activities to enhance the experiences pupils have, including the opportunity for all older pupils to learn a musical instrument.

?? The school??s promotion of pupils?? spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is strong.

?? Teaching is good, with some that is outstanding. This is because the school has high expectations and teachers plan exciting lessons to engage pupils.

?? Leaders and managers and governors have brought about improvements to the quality of teaching and pupils?? achievement.

?? The majority of parents are positive about the school and the progress their children make.

?? Members of the governing body make sure they are well trained to provide good support to the school. They bring a wide range of experience to their role and know the school??s strengths and areas for development.

It is not yet an outstanding school because

?? Pupils are not given the opportunity to respond to teachers?? written comments in their books.

?? Pupils do not always know what their targets are and therefore are not involved in identifying the next steps in their learning.

Thanks Renata!

Anyone else got a child starting in September? We missed the parent meeting on Tues unfortunately but are going next Tues with our little'un to introduce him to his class... We don't know anyone else who's going, so we're keen on arranging some playdates over the summer (even just meet ups in parks and such) so that he will know some faces when he starts in September... anyone else in the same boat? Maybe see you Tuesday?

Thanks

    • Are there any Physical Activity (Bronze) approved providers near East Dulwich? Any ideas would be highly appreciated!
    • The failure of the council year on year to prevent the corporate take-over of our precious public space is appalling. The consultation process this year is deliberately dumbed down and takes the form of a survey with a range of anodyne tick boxes designed to give the appearance of a 'consultation' without requiring any hard comment or information that could be used to oppose the survey.  It may be possible to get some answers from Gala themselves so I will try to do that and post here if anything forthcoming.
    • Avoid Acorn at all cost. Appalling service in every regard. We were involved in a sale and they repeatedly made procedural errors that delayed, and almost tanked, the sale. As buyers, they knew literally nothing about the property and were unable to answer even the most basic questions. Instead they simply lied rather than saying they didn’t know any information which caused issue in the long run. I hear only positive things about Truepenny’s.
    • I was given an old clarinet recently. I play saxophone, but am struggling to make a good sound through the clarinet. Is there anyone who could give it a look over and see if there’s anything amiss or stuck? I’m not enough familiar with how it should be to know what to look for… I’m based in Camberwell. Thanks
