KidKruger
Snapped this photo of a “East Dulwich” sign when on a bus approaching the roundabout at the end of Lordship Lane. I would have expected such a sign to be on the opposite side of the road for people entering Lordship Lane from the roundabout. So is this sign saying we are entering East Dulwich at that point, or is it saying we have just been there 🤣🤣😳🤔 Or is it just a legacy of old signage. sandyman
The first house we bought was at the goose green end of Crystal Palace Road but if you looked in the old A-Zs at the time the P of 'Peckham' started on Crystal Palace Road, but I'd definitely say we lived in East Dulwich. Though these days I might claim it was in Peckham or at least Bellenden - much cooler. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/338858-east-dulwich-sign-confusing/#findComment-1650820 Share on other sites
Jules-and-Boo
There’s a sign at the top of LL, it’s usual to have signs indicating boundaries. It looks like it’s changed since it was put up Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/338858-east-dulwich-sign-confusing/#findComment-1650824 Share on other sites
Dogkennelhillbilly
Before it sold out to Poundland, Foxtons had obtained permission to extend the boundaries of East Dulwich to the north, east and south by ⅛ of a mile per calendar year. Jenijenjen
I thought Foxtons had managed to extend the boundary of East Dulwich to include all of Bellenden Road but later decided it was a part of Peckham all along and named Bellenden Village. malumbu
I've probably posted this before but I come from near to Lickey End, and a village called Bell End, so always find this amusing in later life - only after Steve Wright in the afternoon went on about this, he is a bit of a Lickey/Bell end himself. Bell Green where savacenter/Sainsbury's is, I've always known as Bell End. It's possible that it's just facing in the wrong direction and that it simply needs to be turned around by 180 degrees. Mistake or joke perhaps by whoever was last attaching signs to the same post.. 2 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/338858-east-dulwich-sign-confusing/#findComment-1650972 Share on other sites
