Book Now for Sydenham Arts Festival 2013!

Sydenham Arts Festival 2013 is now under way with some of the 90 plus events selling out fast!


There are still lots of shows and workshops to choose from this week from award-winning poet Blake Morrison to 50 of London's top orchestral players bringing the music of 2001 and Star Wars to young audiences.


Tonight, bathe in the poetry of music with Full Fathom Five, at St Bart's Church, or head down to the Hob Forest Hill for some theatre with Through the Hourglass.


Tomorrow, get your light sabers ready for an evening of Space Adventures with Sydenham Sinfonia , at St Bart's church or help industry critics choose from some of the hottest up-and-coming acts at The Hob, Forest Hill, with Sydenham Unsigned. Author, journalist and poet Blake Morrison will also be discussing his life and work at Sydenham School.


On Thursday, filmbuffs should head to the Golden Lion, Sydenham, to a celebration of the best British short films from the past year, or get your dancing feet ready for an evening of Irish Music at St Christopher's Hospice. Heat 2 of the comedy competition So You Think You're Funny? is also at the Hob.


On Friday singer Alex Carter presents her musical heroines, including Peggy Lee and Eartha Kit, at the Hob while Dick Vaughan ("One of the five or six great voices of our time" - John Peel) brings some great folk music to Tudor Livesey Hall.


Saturday and Sunday's events include children's theatre with the strory-telling spider Anansi and his Web of Stories, a Salsa workshop and Edinburgh Festival Preview 2 at the Hob.


The fabulous Artists' Trail, with more than 200 local artists show-casing their work in their homes, studios and other venues in and around SE26, also continues its second weekend.


Next week's line-up includes acclaimed poet and musician Benjamin Zephaniah!
